Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by corncobcoupe, Jul 27, 2020.

  1. Joined in 2006 and had a 52 Chevy at the time... Apparently I met Nick @Malcolm on his first trip to the Roundup. Car is long gone as I sold it on another trip to the Roundup to a guy from Sweden a few years later. He drove it down to Houston and put it on a boat. Ended up having to bum a ride home for me, my two boys, and my brother with Sid Drapal and his wife Tresea. :D

Joined in 2005 when I first bought this 51 ford. It was bone stock and a little fugly. I didn’t know anything about earlier cars and once I found some chopped shoebox pictures on A google search from the HAMB I joined up. 1FA29892-C824-433E-A5F9-D363DC0DF9C3.jpeg

I built this car in '97, still had it in '01 when I joined the HAMB.

Still have it today, it's still flamed and still an A bone.

Joined June 2005 after lurking for awhile. This one is gone, replaced with a 39 Chev coupe. I do still own a project 98 convert so I suppose the user name is still relevant. Olds 98.JPG

I joined in 2007 but I lurked for quite some time before then. Even went to the Hamb Drags in 2006 with my T.

I joined in 2011, but the pos truck I had trying to build back then is long gone. Finally got a real HAMB friendly car a couple of years later, my avatar. Still have it.

When I first joined, my user name was 50dodge4x4. The first two user names I tried to sign up under were already in use, so I signed up under my work truck. That probably would have been around the end of 1999 or early 2000. At that time, my hot rod would have been a 54 Dodge pickup. Don't have either truck anymore. I sold the 54 to buy a 39 Plymouth business coupe, and the 50 Dodge 4x4 gave its life to save mine in a head on crash in Oct 2011. I have pictures of both trucks here someplace, let me see if I can find them.

I changed my user name after I forgot the old password for 50dodge4x4, 5 years after the truck was gone. I had the 48 Plymouth business coupe then (my avatar) and still have it today, but its been repainted. Gene

Mine was a 1931 Model A pick me up hot roses or at the least on its way. Will have to get the old desk top cob webs steeped off if I can find pics. Old phone had pics for sure but it crapped out years ago.

I joined in September of 2002 (#864). I've had Clarence since February of 1973. See avatar. I still have it. This pic was taken at MoKan at the first H.A.M.B. Drags. I drove it for many years with the flathead 8 and original drivetrain; even to some of the NSRA Nationals.. In the early 90's it got a mechanical and visual makeover. In 2015 it got another mechanical makeover and currently is getting another visual makeover. If it ever gets another redo it'll be by my daughter who put her name on it when she was in high school 25 years ago.

I had this 37 Nash which was my first old hot rod, shortly after I joined in 2004. Cut my teeth on it. Sold it to Stevienash here on the HAMB in 2011 I think. He took it to the next level. Nash08Nose.JPG Nash08above.jpg

The top photo from the HAMB Drags is historical for me. In the background is the truck that was my brothers at the time. We had driven it to Bonneville on our first trip there five years before this photo. That was before Hooley and I built the Studebaker (also in the background) that we raced and set records on the salt.

The truck in my avatar is the one I have owned for 32 years now. I drive it a lot and run it at the drags a couple of times each year.

  17. Can’t find pictures of my’56 Olds Super 88 that I had way back then. It was when the HAMB had an American 5 spoke on pie crust slick. Early 2000s...

My banger powered coupster I had when I joined. I built and loved it but it was a shitbox. Fun though and did have a leather seat! I sold that to fund building my AV8 coupe. That car got a little ink in Mag-neto magazine which was neat. Also a fun car that I drove the absolute balls off like I stole it. Had to sell that one to finance my current coupe.

    Which is my 34.

Theres been quite a few cars that ive bought and sold and welded up and chopped up and helped with but these were my main interests. All jalopies but all home built. Learned alot here. Now you know my HAMB history.

After lurking a year or so I joined in 2009 with the 37 I’d been driving since 97. I acquired the 49 Chevy in 2011,got it running, stopping and roadworthy.
The Ford went to Michigan where it’s still on the road and the Chevy to Wisconsin in 2012 to start my quest for a 40 coupe which good karma brought me in 2013. 92C0ACC1-AB97-46E2-A16E-2D7782BA6FED.jpeg 00EC395D-5A1D-455F-A5BA-0AD6CFAB2933.jpeg 1D33AE9B-29EC-4B98-8187-B6E64F87FEAC.jpeg

2011 for me. Had a stocker Model A coupe. My wife couldn't bare to watch me cut it up, so I sold it and bought the 34 in 2012. Pic is last year at the Frog Follies with the same owner I sold it to. He kept it stock and loves it. 0825181014.jpg
