Interesting site, it's a shame he doesn't tell us what happened to the company after 1948.

 

K R Wilson Tools are highly sought after by early ford mechanics. They made a lot of specialty tools for Model A Fords and such. Many of their tools bring some very good money.

 

This is another item that was found when helping to clean out a estate. HRP

What's the ball chain and metal piece used for? HRP

 

HRP The one you have is for old cast iron Ford Cruise o Matic. The bar is put under the adjustment screw for the band as a spacer. The chain is so you don`t lose the bar.The tool is set to freewheel at the correct torque .Then back off one turn .Tighten the lock nut on the adjustment screw and your done.

Were there any hydra-matic tools by any chance?

 

We are still digging through all the crates & boxes, the estate has 3 large quonset huts, and we are just getting started in the first one, this is where we found these two items. HRP

 

I'll post some pics of tools so you know them when you see them.

You had to bring it up. So here is what it is used on.
Headspace and timing gauge are used to do what they are named after. First you set the headspace between the breech and the bolt by screwing the barrel in or out until the gauge fits in the GO end and the NO GO end will not fit. Then you insert the GO end to set the timing with a wheel and the rear cover removed so it will fire at 600 rounds per minute when the bolt is completely closed. Failure to properly set the headspace and timing can result in a, worst case scenario case rupture causing severe damage to the gun and user. Best case it will not fire.
