You are welcome. Please keep the beautiful pics coming. I don't get out anymore so this is refreshing to see. I saw my first air show in B'ham Al at the end of the war in 45 . I think Sept.

Indeed it is a very big bomber. I was born at Castle AFB in 53, so I am very familiar with the area. This is a pen and ink drawing I did for a friend who was part of the team that helped to get that B-36 delivered to the museum there.

This awesome shot of the B-36 on final was a gift from my friend that I did the drawing for.

I remember as a 10 yo north of B'ham al where we lived hearing them over head. Later as a B 52 gunner, I talked with old heads that were flying those.
There was a bomb plot, scoring site in B'ham.

I used to own this 47 Stinson. Bought it to take lessons in. Decided that I'd rather die some other way.

Casper if you were flying in Alaska, you had to be sharp. Good stick and rudder skills.

Here in central Minnesota a small town has an annual show called "The Gear Head Get Together". Basically bring anything you have of interest, cars, trucks, motorcycles, tractors, snowmobiles...... there are no awards and it makes for a great show. So in 2018 the owner of this vintage Grumman seaplane lands at the local airport about 1 mile away from town. Then in the middle of the night, tows the plane down the county road, across the state hwy and into town for the show. No permits or police escort, nothing. Turns out that somebody knows somebody that has a crane so this is what they did. How cool is that? Wonder if the owners insurance company knew what they did.
PS: The plane was left suspended for the whole day.

"Money has no value unless it's spent "
You just have to really love those, that have no qualms about spending money, whether its on foolishness or incredible artistic expression such as the man that pulled the strings on getting the crane arranged to hoist his very cool Grumman Wigeon onto the grass. And no, I am sure that no one at the insurance company had a clue about it.

Obviously the owner of the plane has spent his money very wisely when it comes to having fun and providing a lot of positive smiles for all that attended! Thanks for the likes, and thanks for posting this very cool picture!

I may have to fire up my MM Universal and fly it to the next Gear Head Round up. Yes I drew it, but I assure you its not real, but is it a lot of fun to see peoples reactions to it, as I have it on T-shirts as well.

Found this in the gun safe today. My grandpa used to deliver film to the airport on his bicycle. He got to develop film for free, since the owner liked him. Here is the delivery aircraft. Used to land right next to the (now highway) in Woodson Park. Oklahoma City,OK it was an old Grass strip. Airplanes were quite the attraction. 7FD410E9-17B1-4CA7-B6CD-80A3A11A1AC9.jpeg
