"...makes you wanna drive your hot rod."

    Tiny Tim does that?
    Okie smokie... LOL
I think you pushed the gate open.

For your penance, you're to listen to three Slim Whitman albums and a couple of Perry Como's.

    And as the light fades...

  16. I only posted Tiny Tim in response to him bringing it up.

I like a variety of music. I've posted pretty mild stuff. I like music with energy. Intelligent and angry lyrics help. Happy Days aren't here again. I have heard a song or two from the 50s that jam, too, but they're not mainstream. "Green Onions" is a good mainstream song.

  17. Y'all have got to find and listen to "Tallahassee Lassie"! Great song with lyrics like "She's got a high fly chassis!". My favorite version is Freddy Cannon. R-7373092-1440078640-7327.jpeg.jpeg dns2g-R9692EJP06Q-Full-Image_GalleryCover-en-US-1562692979329._UR1920%2C1080_RI_.jpeg

    "Tallahassee Lassie"
    Here you go, Nicholas.
    Lots of energy.
    Exceedingly "intelligent" lyrics. LOL
    But not angry.

    1, 8, 4, 3, 6, 5, 7, 2...

I'm thinking this rock and roll stuff might catch on.

  23. You're trying to be a snob, and trying to control this thread.

Maybe it is a generational/cultural thing. I can't go into that here.

Control? Nah... I don't want any control.
    LOL
Snob? Oh, thanks. But in my book, nobody is better than anybody else. So, I promise... I'm not here to prove anything... just to enjoy myself. And maybe help others to do the same.
    What are you doing?

  27. A couple of you guys are trying to assert that some music is acceptable for this thread and some isn't. You (personally) have posted a lot of era-specific songs. The OP didn't say to post era-specific songs that are only about hot rods. I've used that opportunity to post songs, that mostly aren't stereotypical to the 50s nor hot rods, for my own enjoyment. If someone else enjoys them, discovers something new to them, all the better.

Another part of posting some songs is to show that the HAMB is not monolithic.

Part of the HAMB culture is about not being into 80s street rods, billet, and such. There used to be posts about those dolls at car shows, I can't recall the term. Crybaby dolls? The stereotypical music played over a PA at some shows was included in that which some HAMBers weren't into. The Beach Boys blaring making it hard to have a conversation.

The generational part could quickly and easily go against the HAMB rules. Being careful, and not in judgment of your posted songs: I'd call it "Bubblegum" music. It's appropriate for the carefree 50s. There were dark aspects hidden under that facade.
