Should I rush your rush job or the rush job I was rushing when you rushed in?

  7. That's going to be a nice RPU, but Charlie needs to get some smaller front tires or he's in for trouble.

For a rookie could you elaborate on the impending trouble?

Looks like the tires will rub the fenders when turning.

  12. Bingo!! ^ The nut on the fender bolt will do a great job of chewing up the tire sidewall.

  18. Be interesting to see it tightened up. The square hole for the carriage bolt is on the fender, not the brace. He has the good, forged '28 fender braces. They are thicker than the '29 stamped braces, so there is no way the bolt is going the catch the square in the fender. I suppose he could spend an afternoon with a little square file trying to "square" the hole in the brace, but filing Henry's vanadium steel can get old pretty quick. Put on smaller front tires, problem solved, and the car will look better for it. I don't know how many full fendered Model A's you've built, but I've built 3. I have some experience to draw on.

29 pu.jpg the tudor in the driveway is the 12th . I have NOT lowered all of them to that extreme.
I have rounded the corners on the carriage bolt, put a stainless washer on the outside with the stainless acorn nut. Also with the thick brace I have used my grinder to make it half as thick. even cut one off at the headlite mount. the stamped brace is easy to alter. Its a 1/4 hole, but drill both out to 5/16. I used like 'em real low.
    I have had 6 '28-'29 tudors 4 roadster pickups, and 2 roadsters, ( I love '28-'29 fenders )
I like to use 135x15 tires, but they are getting real hard to find in this area..
AND my desire to be the lowest in town has become less important as I age..

To be honest: I HAVE NEVER HAD ONE FEATURED ON THE COVER OF ANY MAGAZINE, so what do I know...

  20. Well, we both agree on the best fenders Ford ever designed. And you have certainly had your share of 28-29's. Ever have a '28 AR? My Tudor was an AR. Too bad Ford changed those front fenders after only 3 months. I'm running 145 X 15's on my current RPU. Would go to 135's but I have to be very careful on speed bumps now.

my first '28 tudor was an AR. I was 13 yrs old, It had a "36 Ford engine and trans, I was too ignorant to realize the fenders were different UNTIL I had sold it for big $$$$ to get one in better shape. Only then did I realize how Ford had pulled a secret difference. I still look for the early fenders. There is a coupe around here with an AR fender on one side and a later one on the other side. Owner said " I never noticed"
He is a " restorer" but has 16 inch spokes with radials !!!! DS.

A socket button head cap screw would be just the thing for that application.

I’m sure they’re worth something but if you are one of the guys who will treat them like they’re stamped out of 18 gauge gold sheet then Dean would probably tell you to keep them and wish you luck finding a sucker :D:D

    I know I would :D:D
