I have a weird issue. Usually with a half tank or less I get a situation where I stall, and even though the fuel pump is running (electric) I am getting no fuel to the carb. Holley Street Avenger with glass sights, so I can see there is no gas. If I wait a few minutes it clears up and doesn't happen again until I get to half tank or lower. .fuel filter is good, gas cap vented for vacuum and pressure...I used to think it was vapor lock but happened tonight after about a mile and the car was not hot... Any ideas
If you've got an electric pump mounted near the tank that should eliminate any vapor lock problems. And as Johnny Gee noted, closer to the floor of the tank should help too.
How old is your fuel line, could it be swelling and choking flow? Ethanol does crazy stuff to old lines.
I replaced it within the last 2 years What gets me is it happens once then clears up..I thought it may be a ground issue so I added an extra ground The tank exit is lower and behind the rear end so I have to loop the line up and over..
Keep in mind that an electric pump is pretty good at pushing fuel but it horrible at sucking the fuel. Ideally, the pump should be lower than the tank and the fuel lines should be as short as possible without sharp bends or kinks. Gravity should feed the pump.
Had a dollar issue with a car a while back. The tank would get low and suck up crap and plug the pick up Let it sit the crap would settle and the car would start again. or maybe your running out of fuel and your gauge is off ?
I always wondered how low fuel would make the pick up grab more junk, it is always sucking off the bottom.
Original Old or Original replacement like from Tanks? Age is not our friend and could be you have a pin hole in the pickup tube inside the Tank. Setting empty for years can cause issues.
Old... And did sit empty Fuel pump is about an inch and half higher than pickup tube from tank Did have a losse connection from rubber to steel could have caught air?
I think my fuel level float arm is a touch short as well so I may have a touch more fuel then what it reads
Not impressed with the 670 CFM Street Avenger carb on my 327 300 HP SBC. Called Holley Tech Support and they knew as much as I did to try and get it to run right. I finally gave up and stopped calling them.
I had the old 3310 and a 650 dp In did jet this up by moving the secondary jets to the front and adding 76 jets to the secondary However I have to run the black spring to prevent bogging
