  2. I'm gonna go out on a limb and guess that being built in the late 50's/early 60's in Michigan with needle nose bubble skirts that those would be Jimmy Jones skirts. Send them to me....no one wants that junk. ;) Cool car!! Glad it's in the hands of someone who knew it, appreciates it and will get it back up and running. Win, win, win!!

Interesting auction. A little something for everybody.

  6. I opened the bidding on the Kellison J6 coupe body but some young feller needed it more than I did. Now I can get back on my two unfinished projects.

We had sort of a reunion at the auction...probably close to a half dozen, maybe a few more of us, who knew Harold since the 50's or early 60's. A great auction and some great memories.

Was at a car show today and I have an update of the mercury. The car is now "finished". The paint was just matched and touched up so that is now all the same color. It was also clear coated. Anyhow, here is what it looks like now. 12. Kinda reminds me of this one built by a cat named Bill Wolfe ca. 1958. IMG_1190.JPG

    OK...
Dang if it don't look good in paint.
Until I saw it together and in new paint, I thought it was the ugliest Mercury I had ever seen!

In paint, it brought a chuckle...a little laugh....Ha Ha....that joker does look good. What a fun car.

  17. Owner probably sold it for a small fortune. Merc accessory wheels are BIG dollars probably even cut it half.

Just got off the phone after talking with the owner for about an hour. I didn't know he had such a long history with the car. He lived just a few houses away from Harold and saw it being built. So it's in excellent hands. He told me they found that the only mud in the car is a little around the Impala scoop the rest is lead.

It looks amazing! Impressive that so much of the original paint was able to be saved, I think that's really neat. And the customizing makes so much more sense now that I see it with the grille and headlights and whatnot installed into it. I'm glad to see that hood notch got filled back in during the resurrection. A great car with a really happy ending, I love it!
