    Hello,

While it is well known that So Cal has some great weather, in any part of the year, goes without saying. The location is a Mediterranean Climate with the ocean influence on one side and the mountain range on the other. It creates a giant area for a nice climate all year around. The ocean keeps battling the inland heat from overpowering the year’s outdoor activities. So, when the outdoor is looking great, out come the open roadsters and of course, convertibles.

My wife’s mom had a 47 Buick convertible when they lived in tremendously hot inland city called Pacoima. So, their daily driver had open air-air conditioning. But, as we have seen plenty of photos, most women wore bandanas to keep the hair in place and not have to constantly re-doing those styles. Although some ladies with short style hair just let it all hang out in the wind. It was just…”Blowing in The Wind.”

After a few years in Pacoima, the family move Southwest to the ocean or as close (two blocks) to the ocean as you could, in Manhattan Beach. Then after selling the Buick convertible, the family made the trek back to the OKC for a job transfer. Finally, it was back to convertible weather (for good) in So Cal in 1956.

When my wife and I go out for a post office, bank, and/or gas fill up errand day, sooner or later, we will come across an old convertible or two. Guess who sees those convertibles, first? Of the last two we have seen, one makes it to this post and the other, despite the cool dark blue color and stock appearing look with two blond girls driving around, was just a couple of years over the HAMB rule limit. My wife’s family had the same model year of Chevy, when we were going out and then got married. So, she remembers the front look from across the street.

This yellow Plymouth convertible reminded my wife of those days riding around with her mom in that big Buick convertible when she was little. The odd thing is, she is getting good at spotting old cars on the street and saw this yellow convertible from far away. I guess I am obligated to keep my eyes on the traffic, of what little there is on the road these days.
