Event Coverage NHRA 1959 FILM

This has probably been posted in the past but I don't remember it, I hope you guys enjoy it as much as I did. HRP

They had this playing on a loop in a history of speed exhibit at the Gilmore Car Museum, a couple summers ago.
It was an excruciatingly hot and sunny August day.
My dad and I must have sat there watching it, soaking up the AC, for all of an hour and a half.
We weren't the least bit concerned that there was a car show going on outside.

 

My uncle gave me a copy of this one many years ago. There is another one I believe that's called Roadrunners. To promote hot rod safety back in the day.

Hello,

I thought I saw this film on the HAMB many years ago. It is a popular movie taken back then by some pretty powerful photographers and equipment. The color film does deteriorate over the years. Hopefully, someone could get access to the Sid Davis archives, there might be an original color version. Sometimes, the You Tube version makes old films look older.

To avoid posting a YouTube video that's already been posted on the H.A.M.B., I find it's a good idea to perform a simple H.A.M.B. search using the YouTube video ID as the search criteria (in this case, bqCm7YO2GOI ) ... and if it has already been posted, I typically just "bump the thread" to bring it back to the top ... vice starting a new thread.

No worries! ... I love the "Ingenuity In Action" film (2 of the 53 re-posts were by me) and just thought it would be a clever way to bump your thread to the top (so more eyes would see the video) ... while "busting your balls" a bit

Funny you should post the Steve Martin "Well Excuse Me" video in your reply to me.

In the late '70s, my father and his best friend (Gary "Goodguy" Meadors) found The Inman '57 Chrysler Custom in Fresno. Some time later, Steve Martin's producer (William E. McEuen) showed up at our house with an envelope of CA$H to purchase the milestone custom (which he later had @RodP restore) ... and he gave me two autographed Steve Martin albums:

• The 1978 "A Wild And Crazy Guy" album
• The 1977 "Let's Get Small" album ... that included a live performance of the "Excuse Me" bit
