Been getting the coupe out to run errands or just to get it out.

  4. I have 3 weekly cruises to go to, one is a hike. Best one is by the ocean on Sunday mornings and packs in easily 300 cars. I drive the car almost daily and dodge the heat. The car was down a couple of times for repairs, longest was 4 days last week due to a bum shifter.

I've been driving the coupe since I got it back together after the paint job back around April 1st. We are at about 1/2 the miles we normally would have driven by this time of the year. At this point we are at about 2,000 miles for this season. There simply have not been many places open yet this year. We would have done a vacation run of over 900 miles one way, but the place we would have been heading for got shut down. It looks like that trip will have to wait until next year.
Some things are opening up a bit more now, and we are still hoping for a couple shows and a few cruises to happen yet this year. Gene

I took the missus out for breakfast this a.m. It looks like I'm getting one of the two cars out about 3 times a week for some sort of errand that is necessary or, at least, a reason to get out.

That automobile must steal the show at every destination! Truly poetry at a stand still... and no doubt it’s poetry in motion!

  12. ...was getting one of my old vehicles out at least once a week til about mid-June; then this heat wave took over, 90+ degrees and humid every day since then;...so not as much fun unless I get out early or later in the day....did drive my old Ford to the Glory Days event three days in a row this last week...

  13. My main challenge this summer is that my 56 needs a transmission and my pu needs a motor. I have, however, been driving both of them as much as possible until they completely quit moving. I have a short block built for the pu, but am still waiting to get my heads back from the machine shop...

Try to get out every chance I get checking out the two lanes around and about to enjoy the ride and not be focused on the destination. Probably more miles than in the past. Miss the cruises and swaps but Just like with many sports teams, hope for better next year. Just a couple samples:

I drive mine as much as I can, but a couple of my cars have not been out of the garage yet.
Loaded up my model A with camping gear and headed to Glory Days drags last weekend. Model As were the first SUVs.

I have put around 800 miles on my Forty this season, and just on weekends. I have a company truck Monday through Friday, so car club night is about the only day I drive during a week, once a month. And the storm predictions have kept me from that more often than not.

I have a minimum of 2500 miles from local cruises and car shows and driving back and forth to work. With the car shows shutting down, they have been turned into car cruises of 50-80 miles. Which I enjoy more than the shows, it seems.

A friend took a pic of my car when we missed each other at a local show this weekend.

  25. Been driving mine every chance I get. I am also heading in for another back surgery at the end of August. After that, it will be parked for the winter... 20200708_174619.jpg

(egg shaped king pin bores, have new replacement axle, 1" drop: '60 F100 axle.)
Sooo...I had to drive the roadster. (It's an O.T. Merc Benz 300 SL) Yes, a true 2 seat roadster.
