Of all the 1932 Fords we have had this one was my favorite,we drove it to a lot of shows and Danny made many young couples wedding experience a little more memorable ridding away from the church.

We had fun driving around Knoxville with the just married sign on the back, I liked the spare tire with the sign or without.

When I was making the transition from antique enthusiast to hot rodder (at like 9), one of the slickest cars in town was a '36 Buick Century powered by a '56 Roadmaster ... dual sidemounts with steel covers add a lot to the right car.

doesn’t look much like a traditional hot rod to me, but then, neither do any of the others with spare wheels...........except maybe OP’s

I agree. And, also put them in the trunk.

  7. My old black 4 door was more of a resto rod, the flathead was wearing aluminum heads & intake, 4 barrel carb and fenton headers and with the exception the widened bent spoke Kelsey Hays wheels on the rear & wide whites it almost appeared stock.

If I owned it today I would upgrade the 3 speed transmission to a T-5 and call it done, the car now resides in Tokyo and I sent the 5 speed transmission with it when it left. HRP

Running the spare because I did not like a well fender without one.

  13. They look OK on some of the pickups and sedans, but I have to agree with TagMan not on my Hot Rod. Plus I like the excitement of living dangerously.
HRP I love that sedan with the red rims and white walls. The spare looks good on that car for sure.

  14. Thank you Mark, I can't even visualize a spare tire hanging of the back of your roadster,

But you could start a new trend, a hiboy roadster with a spare, on second thought please don't! :D HRP

I wanted to ask the owner about the rear fenders.

  19. Definitely not a 40 Ford rear fender, my guess is it's possibly a '48 rear fender & bed. HRP

I’m not sure if you were actually wanting opinions, or just photos.
When I built my coupe I had the spare wheel holder chromed and bolted on, mainly for practical reasons.
A friend questioned if I was going to leave it on there, so after some thought, I replaced it with a straight spreader bar.
I put the spare wheel holder and spare on my fordor, but still feel that it distracts from the overall look, so will eventually remove it and put on a straight bar also.

On all the pickups and deliverys above, they could all be put on the deck/tray to keep them out of sight, obviously they chose not to, (or didn’t have a good friend to guide them.....:D ).

I too like this on the larger classic and commercial vehicles but not so much on a “hot rod”
The spare on the rear deck on mid thirties coupes and open cars looks like an afterthought IMHO.

  25. The '28 Tudor is going to have it on the back in the stock location.........semi sleeper :). The '41 p/u has the indent on the fender but the mount is gone.

For me it depends on the car. Not much on rear mounted spares, but have always really appreciated side mount, preferably dual sm's if its on the "right" car. ( and don't ask me what the"right" car is cause its like pornography I know it when I see it.)

On a '35 it looks ok. I haven't had the spare mounted on the back in a couple years because cracks appeared around the bracket bolted to the back panel. I need to spend some serious bodywork time on the old beater.
