Discussion in 'Traditional Hot Rods' started by jordabennett, May 3, 2020.

  1. Well it’s Sunday here and the strippers are shut, so I decided to do some stripping myself, this thing needs a birthday and it’s time.
I will put the splash aprons back on and make the one piece not two. I’ve also just finished painting my headlights and tail lights (guide 682-C rears are 39 Pontiac) lots to come this week, stay tuned.

I am really enjoying the story you are telling about your great roadster. I am also enjoying your photography skills. Every picture is well composed and fun to see. They add a great deal to your story. Thank you!

  5. Well today I tried to get the guide lights setup and mounted. I used the original head light bar and cut off the end off relocated them. I trimmed the bases to make them sit better on top of the frame rails. I welded the posts to the frame and after a bit of filling and sanding I will paint it black tomorrow and mount these lights.

Been following your build and I like what I see.
Roadsters look really cool with a chopped top and side curtains.

  11. You’re 6’7”? I’d love to see a picture of you in the car. I’m 5’9” and I look over the windshield (chopped 2”) in my RPU.

everything you've done to that car just fits so well. what did you use for the filler on the steering wheel?

  14. A fiver fill for the deep stuff. Just need to make sure all the cracks are ground out and rough to get a good adhesion. Then a fine filler over top and a coat of high build primer

  20. Few late nights in the shop, managed to get my 39 Pontiac tail lights assembled and mounted as well as the front modified headlight bar and headlights. Now I’m playing around with this 1940 mercury trunk handle and making a license plate light. I’ve welded the seam and will also make the splash aprons one piece and black with all the running board holes trimmed off. IMG_6744.JPG

  24. Roughed up the splash aprons and attached them. Drove it outside to see what she looked like. Really need to sort out the roof and many more pieces of the list, for tonight this will do- [IMG]

I like how the trim on the Pontiac tail lights mimics the aux light on the 682C

Greetings from the SOUTH of new jersey ( or just jersey as they say up north in the suburbs of new york!) ....your worksmanship is excellent!, my OPINION on the top is they look really good to me when the second bow forward isn't too high in relation to the rear bow....and you sure lost me on giving your car a " birthday ", is that British Columbia slang??....cool thread, thanks for posting!

Nice little Model A has gotten very hip and cool...like a 16 year old girl at her debutante party.
Man cave is great, you do have an eye for leather upholstery!
Thanks for the idea on the front seat frame, just excellent!

  30. It was short lived but enjoyed every minute working on and driving this old girl, had to sell for some other unexpected life issues but there will be something in the works shortly, stay tuned
