  2. Sometime in the early 90's our work librarian explained the internet to me and described Bulletin Boards. I was on the early Rodders Round Table when it flamed out. I found the Jalopy Journal with the mag wheel and drag slick - if I remember right. It didn't do anything. I looked it it from time-to-time and the HAMB came into being...can't remember when that was. I've got a fairly low number from 2001 or so.

Just missed the first 500. These threads are always a great reminder of the changes the board has gone through and brings out some who rarely post anymore ( me included, always more of a lurker). I’ve learned a ton here and made some really good friends along the way.

  7. Looks like I am number 18,379 and I would agree with some that have said that they have met lots of great friends from being here. I would have to say that my closest friends outside of family were met here some that even live quite a distance from me...

Thanks for bringing this group together Ryan!

Easy way to find your number, look at the very bottom of your screen, the last white left hand corner. Then hover over the avatar you are seeking the number for, now look at that bottom corner, it is the last number. Bob

No way, found my '30 roadster body in 1962, sold it, bought it back 25 years later, nothing changed, still plodding along 58 years later. Bob

  15. Yup the mag wheel. As I mentioned I found this place around Christmas 1999. I read the home page, looked at a couple links. There was not much content and if I remember right the only link to the HAMB was a hyperlink that I accidentaly found a few weeks later in Jan.

Didn't Mart over in the UK have a girl on a mag wheel with a drag slick? I found his site before the HAMB, thought is was really neat that American Hot Rodding was that popular overseas. Bob

Most users at one time was 717. That is worldwide. But that is not participating members, just how many were on at one moment in time.

Guess that means a few of us are posting, but a bunch are reading!

177,650. I look like a newbie compared to some of these numbers but when you look at the total, there are over a million after me.

    27523, Feb 7 2007.

Lurked before that and hated it cuz of all the drama, but this is the only place I go anymore and can't get enough.

Me and GMan were on a shiny shit streetrod website back then and there was a lot of folks lookin down their noses at others.

    This is home.

Yep but was that the first or second logo

  30. I joined back in 2000 if my memory is right. When there was a major revision of the site in 2001, we got new numbers and I am now 418. No idea what number I was back when originally signed up, doesn't matter. For sure been hanging around here for a long time. I can say the original HAMB was a lot more smartass and rough on newbies. It was a tighter group then, with lot fewer members.
