Yes, The GM E&F series looked "beefier" but the ALCO's were more attractive to me. Riding with my Dad in the GM's was a blast, specially when I was able to blow the horn. Two long, a short, and a long. Good times.

I think this place still exists although looks a bit different today. Dixie Truckers Home located at the junction of I 55 (Old Route 66) and US 136. McLean Illinois. Had breakfast there many times in the late 50’s!
