I chose not to go this year, but did have a few friends show up, and they say it was about 75% full at the fairgrounds. I thought I'd start this for those that did go, and are generous enough to share their pics for the rest of us.

Guess John Wells and the H.A.M.B. have a different criteria!

I don’t have a problem. TF criteria standards have helped me decide to cross TF off my list. I’m not the only one that has done the same. Growing one end of the spectrum at the expense of the other end of the spectrum. Que sera sera.

My wife and I went on Sat, we took my off topic truck (which is also off topic for that show, no one be me likes that independent front suspension) to the swap meet along with a few extra things. Didn't sell anything, but had many lookers at the truck, which was our mail goal.
We got a great swap space, we watched all the cars come in, and probably had 60% of the spectators pass by us. We had out easy-up, our chairs, a cooler and a nice breeze where we were parked.
We took a break and walked around and looked at cars and went into one of the buildings. We wore our face mask in the building, but otherwise the crowd was pretty good considering how hot it was, and like reported earlier, about 65-75 % of the car show area was full. We didn't take any pictures, there were some pretty nice rides, and there was some real junk the owners called cars, or trucks.
All in all, it wasn't a bad day to watch cars and people. Gene

That pic of the '57 Chev with the '55 clip really makes it look waaaaay better. Something GM should have done in the first place!

The front window is actually from the rear window of the car.

Maybe so, but they sure get way more super nice cars there. Not saying there aren’t any nice cars at TF, but it would sure be nice if they could get more!

Vintage Torque Fest was started as a means to raise money for families with kids with congenital heart defects. The original show had much stricter criteria for the cars to enter the fairgrounds – 1964 or older and very traditional builds. Over the years we found that it is hard to grow the show to where it would bring in significant money to donate to the families if we stayed with the strict traditional criteria. So the criteria for entry were loosened up so that the main purpose of the show, to raise money for the families, could be accomplished. Do I like the new criteria? No I don’t. But it was something that had to be done for the families. In the middle of the Midwest in Iowa, it is impossible to fill the fairgrounds with just strictly traditional hot rods and customs. I am in charge of finding the 12 to 16 invited traditional cars to be displayed inside the building and it is hard to find even that small number of true traditional cars for inside each year. So the criteria was loosened up so that we could donate $10,000 to a deserving family instead of $50. And donating to these families is the real reason for this event; the cars and the music festival are just a fun way to achieve it.

Hey ABoner. Start your own show. It's super easy. And Scoop and 36Cab. I love you.

  24. Hmm, having strict criteria never hurt the Hunnert Car Pileup. Loved that show.

Torquefest raised close to $9,000 for the heart family this year! That's what this show is all about!

  27. ...Pileup had it's share of crappy cars also...it was a big show, who got all that dough?
