Hello everyone! I came across this cool item and I am looking for some more information on it. It appears to be NOS. I believe it’s for a 60’s Indy car but not 100% sure.

As pictured on the 1964 MT "killer car" ?

  3. This place doesn't charge for classifieds...but it should charge for the parts ID service sellers use it for.
I still think it's a sneaky way to get ads onto the main board. But I'm cynical.

I don’t think this will be for sale unless someone offers a lot. It’s a pice of history!

  5. FWIW, I've seen "Harvey" cast into a Schiefer aluminum flywheel.
Suspect they made aluminum castings for many SoCal hot rod & racing parts manufacturers?

Harvey Aluminum was on Western Ave and 190th street near where it crosses the 405 Freeway in what they now call Harbor Gateway.
They did a lot of SoCal casting for the aftermarket industry after the war. WW ll. A guy I worked with was an electrician there in the 60’s. Pretty big foundry in its day starting in the 20’s over 200 acres.
Sold out to Martin Muretta (sp) after problem over unionizing I think. In 1965 they were on the news a lot.

We lived about a mile away in the 50-60s and could their forging presses and hammers all night long. Pretty sure those are forgings.

If no provenance equals no history equals lower value.

The flywheel is a forging, but the OP’s knock off is cast, you can see the grainy surface left by the core sand.
