Quality wise not sure, but this one has a proper arbor, and a button to lock the spindle. The other one I had to put a vice grips on the output shaft and use a wrench to swap wheels

Stripped and sanded a set of early 50s Ford car wheels, and then cleaned and painted them. Hard work in the heat. But I started early and was mostly done by 1:30. I'll let then cure overnight and then add clear coat tomorrow.

My new '53 Customline project is one step closer to cruise-in ready!

  11. Bound and glued some carpet to cover the silver stuff on my '47. Made some brackets for my friend to mount his cowl lights down low and under the fender lip. Hoping they look better than the typical amber motorcycle lights. Now we need to switch out the headlight switch to an early style so park lights are not on with the headlights. Always something. Friday I gave the 47 a fresh coat of wax, it came out nice (though I noticed I'm starting to get some bubbling on the roof, I think is probably from some rust that wasn't properly dealt with before the PO had it sprayed).

Then later that evening we took it out to a non-sanctioned cruise night for burgers, fries and Cokes.

aturday morning I took the 30 pickup out and joined a July 4th parade in a local town. There were a few nice cars there. These were shot in the parking lot after the parade.

I spent all day making a garnish molding for a T coupe. Instead of buying two new repops for a buck and a half.

One is original, the other is new.

Great job Jim, from that pic I can't tell which is which. Of course, I'm not a knowledgable T guy, so there's that. But it looks like maybe the one closest in the photo has a roughened textured surface from age, so I would guess that's the original. Am I right?

Spent most of the day fighting rusty and stripped body mounting bolts on my parts car. Almost ready to lift it off the chassis. It is going under my 50 Fleetline project.

My damn key froze up in the column, so I tore down the steering column and popped it out, repaired. Ready to cruise to the drive-in with a buddy and the wives Thursday for malts and coneys....

I've got a few hundred miles on my project car now, so today I climbed under it and did my usual nut and bolt tightening check. And a good thing I did! I found one nut and bolt on each spindle steering arm that had backed off almost 1/4"!! Yikes!
I removed the bolts, and replaced them with new bolts, and locking nuts. Then while replacing them I also put Loctite on the threads, just to double down on keeping them all tight.

Finally came up with a license plate light, finned body is a parking brake cover for a quad, fitted with a clear 3/4" trailer marker light inserted in the bottom. IMG_20200707_185726.jpg IMG_20200707_185726.jpg

That reminds me, the key switch in my 47 was getting real sticky last time I drove it. I was going to apply some WD-40 to see if that would free it up. Thanks for the reminder....
