Hey members I am having my 1939 Ford coupe trunk finished. I am looking for pictures, if possible, of other 39 or 40 Ford coupe trunk upholstery and rug designs. I am mostly interested in the treatment around the lid side supports, as I am using the stock pieces. Also how was the area by the closing latch done? As for battery placement in the main floor area, since I do not want to hide it behind the wall at the front of the space. Any ideas with pics would help. Thanks to all, good luck and pray for the vaccine.
Placing the battery behind the passenger side front tire works great with 40 Fords. Check out some OLSCROUNGER posts here on the HAMB for more details.
Not exactly what you are looking for but this is what I did for my 40 coupe. The side panels were made from fiberglass. Mini tubs for the rear wheel clearance are used on both cars. My 39 convertible is much simpler.
In the late 1950s an early 60s,when I was having fun with both a hot rod an a full custom I had built. Doing the indoor shows around Florida was a blast, but going with your "Q";;,I did some of the same things others in the shows were doing, most like me too,had a number snap in panels{rolled an plated}. But they were for show an we didn't keep them in place all the time. I had two that snapped over the hood hinges with hood open*,and looked real nice. But I could not close the hood with them in there=would kill them*.
Thank you much, just what I wanted. Great. I am looking to buy a 1940 Ford DeLuxe coupe street rod, not stock, and want to spend under 25k. Thanks again.
Hi again and thanks for the trunk pics. I notice that your side panels fit behind the brace and support. Did you have to alter the brace that the support is mounted to? My 39 standard brace bends into the trunk and blocks the side panel from passing behind the bolt in a straight line like yours. Wondering? Thanks, John.
The brace was not altered but the upholster built wood bracing around it ( not a lot ) to fasten the panels to PM me & I will send you to some construction pictures of Ron
Great pics, have any of the side panels that show the support hinges and how tthe panels fit around the brace holding the support ? Thanks...John
go to Twin City Upholstery facebook You will need to scroll down a good bit but it will show picture's of the construction ( not as good as I would like ) but it will give you a good idea Hope it helps Ron
