  2. Looking good, nice to see a sunny Summer day. Its a cold Winter day down here. Im spending it inside by the fire, celebrating another born day.

  3. Yes, sunny and HUMID here in the Midwest. More progress on the garage. The roof is on and complete. The door is on, so I can lock up the place now. :)

  4. I hope you have a dead bolt on that door...

Humid as heck here on the Island, 95 yesterday and 98% humidity. Even in the shade building cucumber trellises I was sweating bullets. Took 3 pool and beer breaks.

That is a great looking garage. I like the three double doors. I can see the fun in filling the garage with cool cars and parts that may never be used! But just having a place to keep every thing all together makes it worth the effort.

Nice garage and a beautiful lot. I'm a little north of you but I would not build a new garage without infloor heat. I regret it every winter for not having it in mine.

  8. Progress on the new garage was slowed a bit, waiting on building supplies. Everything is buttoned up now. Still waiting on the garage doors. They won’t be here until next Tuesday. So I’m going to spend the time getting some paint on the interior to brighten it up a bit.

My pride and joy just because it took 6 months to jump through the hoops. City and county RED TAPE. I was ready to give up. 2020-02-09 15.07.55-9.jpg Built just for storage.

  12. I feel your pain. This was supposed to be built last October. City, county and state permits...and I live in the middle of nowhere!

  16. Funny you should mention the doors. I just had to take a road trip yesterday (2 hours each way) to go pick up my doors. Seems the company that makes the doors was waiting on one small part ( that is easily available locally) and wasn’t going to ship the doors without it. So I loaded up the truck and trailer and went and picked them up. Should be installed later today.

  20. So, the garage doors are finally hung up, and the exterior is complete. The garage door openers are installed, and it only took 4 door openers to get 3 good ones. Winning! The interior is all painted up nice. Just waiting on the electrician to wire it up, and then I can start moving in...and dripping oil on the brand new concrete.

  22. Probably not. Oil drips are more traditional.

I used a clear concrete sealer that I bought from a local paint store when I had my shop built. I can't recall the brand or name of the sealer though...sorry. I had the concrete finishers power trowel the concrete really smooth and after the concrete cured the sealer was put on with a squeege. The concrete was finished so slick it only took about 1/3 of the sealer that it said it would take based on the square footage. I would say the sealer I used was something that just closed up the pores of the concrete rather than being a "topical" coating that had a "build" or film thickness. Oil spills don't soak into the concrete, and the floor in the part of the shop that wasn't used/abused from my fabrication business and scooting things around is still nice after 25-ish years.

    Enjoy your shop.

  25. Final update on the new garage build. Got all four cars woke up from their extended slumber, and drove them all into the new garage. Driveway is in. Electric is finished. Just a few more signs to hang up, and about 200 license plates to pull out of the old garage rafters.
