I have heard you can run these stahl sport radials tubeless is this true? if it is, is it safe? If not has anyone used them with tubes? Any recommendations for a substitute. It is a highboy 32 Ford? I am pulling my hair out looking for front 16" tires.

I have them on my 34 and really like them as opposed to what I had before. They are running tubes and have had them for probably around 5 years. I had a set of Coker square bias ply tires on there that were garbage. Maybe I just got s bad batch with the bias ply. Bought the Coker’s from an outfit in SoCal. Good people that stood behind what they sell.
On my current project (avatar) I have those tires (Stahl Sport Radials, right?) and Coker said even though I have steel wheels I needed to have tubes. I don’t get it but I did it. Then I found out radials right have different tubes than bias ply tires - they knew that and I got the right ones the first time.
I have a friend with 500/16 Excelsior radials on the front of his deuce 3 window with Rocket wheels running tubeless and he has over 30,000 miles with no trouble. I have another friend that kept having flats and soft tires with tubes so he removed them and went tubeless with no problems. I think the tube thing with COKER is a CYA deal.
I asked one of the Coker sales people at I think it was the Portland Swap Meet about their bias look radial tires needing tubes and he told me they say that , as said above, to CTA in case some dumbass tries to run them tubeless on adjustable spoke wheels. He said I could run them tubeless on steel wheels no problem. Dave ps: That was AFTER I already had tubes in mine. The "radial" tubes are all they do now, they work just as well in bias tires.
I have them tubeless on 40 Ford rims and they don't hold air very well. I think they leak through the rivets
Tubes for wires (and tape or band of rubber) and silicone for steels over the rivets. Not to muddy the waters but, A friend is waiting for a set of Auburn tires from Diamondback. We'll see how they look. Q. Do I need to run tubes with these tires? A. Not necessarily. Most applications do not require the use of tubes. If unsure, ask your salesperson.
I run the Stahl Sport on my truck, radials with tubes all the way around, steel spoked original wheels. I really like them and haven't had any issues with them for 5,000+ miles, expressways included.
I have them (Excelsior Stahl Sport radials) on my RPU 16x5.00 and 16x7.00 mounted on Wheel Vintiques Gennie series 14 steel wheels 16x4.5 front and 16x6 rear. I had them mounted without tubes and they’re working fine. I’ve only put about 500 kilometres on them but they are great. The tire shop that mounted them put them on the Hunter road force balancer and the fronts required no weights. The rears required minimal weights. They run nice and smooth no wobbles or vibrations at any speed. I absolutely believe it’s a CYA move from Coker.
Used them on the front of Agent Thor with tubes. Narrowed the stock wheels down to 3" wide. Excelsiors worked fantastic.
If you could do a survey of all the guys who have or are presently running Excelsior radials tubeless the list would be pretty long. Eric @daddio211 has a set running tubeless on his 27 T roadster too. I recall a number of other Hambers in the past doing so just can’t remember who.
My friend Jerry showed up today in his stocker '41 Ford Woodie. He has a set of coker wide white bias look radials all mounted tubeless. Dave
Anyone ever try to get one adjusted/warranted for out of round? I have a 5.50R16 that has about .250" runout in one spot. Wheel has only .060". Can only balance out so much. When you hit 55 mph, it really starts dribbling. After 35 years in the tire biz, it's unmistakable. Any tips before I call our friends at Coker? Ever deal with them on warranty? Thanks! Bill
