Obviously not CA earthquake country or there would be a boat load of Simpson strong ties, anchors, and strong walls already in place. Coming alone nicely. Looks like there is room to pour another slap next to the far right side for a hoist?

Wow, when you just showed us the slab it didn’t look so big. That’s going to be a real nice place.
    What are the door sizes?

My better half flipped when she realized the garage was only 60 Sq Ft smaller than her house, She still has not realized the second floor is actually larger due to a steeper roofline.

  8. It’s going to have three 16 foot roll-up doors, plus a man door across the frontt.

Here’s a picture with my Cushman Truckster golf cart for scale.

  10. I just about have collected enough parts to start putting something together. Now I’ll have a chance to put all the parts in the same place at the same time. :)

Looks like red and white R panels laying on the ground waiting to be installed. Metal roof is the only way to go for my money. Quick to install, leak free and pretty much hail damage free. If hail damages it, you have bigger problems than roof leaks!

  13. I've always been of the opinion of why do you need a house when you can build a garage?

    Looks great, my friend. :D

That's great. So happy for you.

Lots of prerequisites to be a hot rodder... knowledge, passion, vision, diligence, time, energy, money, tools and equipment...
... and a place to do it.

You're gonna be snug as a bug in a rug next winter. All your stuff tucked away safe. Then you can go get more stuff LOL.
And when it's nice outside... the doors open with a light breeze...

It's never big enough. Story of my life....
I have a 40x50 with 1/3 of it 2 story. I am looking at moving and building a 60x100. Just have to find the right neighborhood.

  17. Hell brother, the neighboring farm just went up for sale! Get on it!

That's starting to looks like a real garage now.

Suggestion, when The closest Habit store opens up again snag a couple of those heavy duty five drawer file cabinets to store project parts that will fit in the drawers in. The file cabinets are about 20.00 each here and the big heavy duty ones hold a lot of parts or tools for that matter. Cheap storage to keep stuff out of sight and organized.

  19. Here’s your daily garage update. The boys are just cranking on this garage. It’s a proper box now.

  20. Here’s a little perspective for y’all. These pictures were taken pretty much right outside the back door of the house, looking to the west. The new garage is tucked away in the back corner behind one of the barns.

  21. This is the view to the East, from the same spot. The barn on the right is the current garage, that I am vacating and the wife is claiming it.

Mine's 25' X 25'. Metal, with 2.5" heavy metal tube frame. It was free, only had to pour concrete floor. (had cement truck back in from the huge school they were building behind us. One of the 14 trucks working the school job, 10 yds. of concrete, one pour.)
My young wife assembled roof and wall skins, 2,000 insulated metal screws! 16 foot door was included with free building. I'm crowded...

  24. Old space was 30x30. Managed to cram 4 cars, 3 scooters, took boxes, and all the rest of the garage junk in there.

There's only two words- God's Country. Nice property and that will be a fun shop to work in, plenty of room for the average rodder.

    Whats in the white barn?

  28. Upstairs is where the roadster pickup project is currently living. Downstairs is the tractor and implements, the mower and the Cushman cart. Plus lots of junk, both up and downstairs.

I would have put vaulted trusses in one of the bays for a lift. I've got ten foot ceilings in my 24 x 54 shop and I'm engineering a setup to remove the bottom of four trusses and make them vaulted so I can have a lift.
