Taken minutes before that lefty nailed a perfect line drive through the passenger side windshield. Please let me take this opportunity to apologize to all of my neighbors for my childhood.
Thanks swi66. That pic of poor guy lying in the snow putting on tire chains reminded me: today's July 1st so happy Canada Day, eh! That pic explains why I moved South to warmer climate. 1 more pic, Rex Winter Dry n windy Lubbock TX
That's not a dozer. It's just a track laying Caterpillar tractor pulling what looks like a disc. They work great on flat land too. Just ask any old time farmer from the flat central valley of California. They also worked great with a scraper (called a Cat and a can) for leveling land. Believe it or not even flat land has to be leveled (graded) once in awhile A dozer has a blade on the front. One that old would be cable driven with an overhead frame (AKA headache bar) for the cables from the rear mounted winch to the blade. BTW, the Caterpillar tractor was invented in the flat area of Stockton, Cal for farming the near by delta islands of peat. The inventor(s) were the Holt Bros. later to become Stockton Wheel. Most hot rodders even today have heard of Stockton Wheel. That may not be dead on accurate but it's close.
Thanks LewisLynn. I appreciate the clarification. I'm a little more knowledgeable now. 1 more car I promise, Rex Winter Dry n windy Lubbock TX
Thanks HEMIDAV! That is Dover Drag Strip. I've had this newspaper cutout since I was 10 years old. Bob
The altered is my buddy George Hutcheson A.K.A. The Stone Age Man driving the original Rat Trap. The picture here is cropped, so you can't see the owner, Don Green, behind the car with his hands on his knees.
