The upholstery is made from baby Naugas. Pattern is known as English Pub, and is still available.

Yeah, I think he will be disappointed with a 45 second ET at 39 MPH

OK. Here is a wild thought ! When I was a crazy 20 something, I bought a year old OT Z-28. Cannot get the music of that engine out of my memory. So......I got that 66 283 in the coupe. If I can find a 327 I can build a small journal 301 ( that is what we old farts call 302s ) I believe my 283 has a forged crank, stock. So opinions on whether or not the stock Ford trans and Banjo could live with stock type tires and no clutch side stepping ? I am wondering if spinning the input shaft at twice the speed of the Flatty. I guess my gear is a 3.54. Any input on that ?

  4. That's the way my '38 Pickup was. Ran great...283 Chevy, with 39 3speed, stock rear. PO had put a Edelbrock manifold with a 600 4bl. 38 Pick-up 036.jpg

A high winding 283, let alone a 301/302 will kill everything from the pressure plate back.

A buddy has a 283, adapter to '39 top loader & PU rear (3.90?). The 301's would scream, but does depend, no Power-like Shifts, no side-stepping launches, it may serve.

Nice looking car. I think a few small things to fix it will be easy and then drive it and enjoy it.

Personally, I'd put a set of twice pipes on it and just enjoy using it.
Start putting a built engine, then trans, rear, brakes,suspension......
All what YOU want out of it though

I see it has aftermarket round gauges, I had a 47 coupe and the round gauges alway drove me nuts (round gauge square hole). Anyway and old Rodder told me that a guy can use 70s ford pickup gauges. I guess you can take the face off the original 46 gauge and put it on the pickup gauge. I was always going to do that to mine but never got around to it.

This sucks hard ! Michigan is relaxing on car insurance requirements. This will start on July 2nd. Been waiting to get the title for the 47 till then. Went on line to try to make an appt. with the SOS. ( our DMV ) All offices are closed to walk ins. I checked every office within 50 miles and none are making appts. till fucking September !! Shit. No cruising this summer. I shouldn't bitch. Lots of worse things could happen, right ?

  20. Surely you know someone with a dealers license? I always had a spare dealers plate around. ;)

A friend of mine has a '40 Ford Coupe with stock driveline except for a 301 SBC. The '40 doesn't get beat on, but he never tip-toed around with it either. Seems to do OK. My un-solicited opinion is to just leave it as is. Should scoot down the road at legal++ speed.

    Cool car. Fortunate find!

People buy cars all the time, I can't see where you can't get it in your name before Sept. Do you have to go to the DMV to get the car in your name? Here in IL, we can go to several license agencies to get cars registered in our name. You may also be able to get the registration done at a used car dealer. May cost a few bucks more, but you can still enjoy the car this summer. Gene

I had a 62 327 FI in my 33 with a 40 trans and original rear end. Many trouble free miles, not all of them easy as I was in my 20’s and 30’s. The only thing that car needs is another exhaust pipe. I love it.

Unfortunately, We in Michigan have to go to the office in person. Spoke with a local PO and she said to keep trying the "get in line" option on the SOS website. Gonna try that today.

If nobody has identified the tank in front of radiator,I'll take a shot at either overflow from Rad or Vacuum tank if the car has underfloor power booster?? Looks like a check valve on hose inlet (or outlet) Ralphie
