Improvised a tubing bender to make a bend I couldn’t make with the benders I have.



1/4-20 carriage bolt and the spacer from a GM caliper slider bolt, some scrap wood, and C clamps.

The other blocks of scrap wood in the background were used to clamp the loop part in place, and another was used to keep the line straight while bending. Kinda hokey, but it worked.

Think I finally found and fixed my trans leak. Last fix was a copper crush washer on the pan to dip stick tube fill where I thought was the leak. I now was even looking at the top of the tube for over flowing since the lower part of the tube was wet. Still persisted. I had the car up 8" and ran it until warm and saw nothing. 1 hour later red drips in the white washing machine pan I keep under it. Hard to see but I spotted a fitting for the the transmission cooler line halfway up the side of the trans with a slight amount of red oil on it. Checked for tight with a tubing wrench....tight but I guess not enough. Very hard to get to but with the tubing wrench and a 6" snipe I was able to tighten it about 1/8th turn in 2 attempts. Ran the engine and in gear for another 10 minutes no leaks in 1 hour and none this morning.....Geez been chasing this for at least a year always went to the fill tube fitting......Forest for the trees... I'm glad I never gave up.

Picked up this heap today, gonna fix it for my girls (2 and 5 years old). Hope to have it done before they grow out of it.

Well finished up my shifter install...man Ford didn’t play when it came to shift levers..that was some hard steel...had to use the cut off tool to hack the first part off and the big electric angle grinder with the big wheel to hack the rest off..all on my back..would have much nicer on a lift...but it’s done and the shifter seems to hit all the gears..lost is down to a few things and it will be break in time...

 

Why why why.....so they like our engines ! Had just looked over this put back motor last month - maybe early to make sure it was staying dry. And damn if yesterday I looked and saw some evil leaves that weren't there before. A closer look and yeah the little rat bastard got hopefully a taste of antifreeze. Anyway cleaning became job one.

 

Picked up this alt bracket for my 351off a 351.... Is there something that bolts directly to the head???

trannie leaks....dang have had those......

 

Worked on the front suspension, cleaning up the upper control arms and replacing the bushings.

 

Mmmm... cut down a tree. Why? In the way. Seriously was in the way , now i can build a 12x16 shed to get all my larger parts out from under my feet ( fenders , hood and grills, bumpers , intakes and valve covers etc) and add on a 8x8 for the garden shed. When that happens I can use all my equipment and keep it in one place. The big fight will be with myself to not fill up the empty spaces.

 

More space results in more stuff is my experience.

Worked on the interior of the T. It's getting there. The seat was already done, so I'm leaving it alone for now. I still have to make top bows and do the headliner and door panels.

After much waffling, I finally gave up on the cool '52 Pontiac steering wheel I restored for my '39 Chevy project. The 18" wheel was just monstrous, and minor corrections as I drove turned into major swings of the wheel!



So I gave in and ordered a 3 spoke wheel in 15" to replace it. Got a satin black center, and chrome cap for contrast. Not as cool looking, but drives much better!

 

Made a load (engine) leveler. Never store bought anything that doesn't need altered. This allows me to pull wider blocks, assembled intake blower systems without dismantling everything, longer chain of course. .Primitive I know. I'm sure everyone has one I'm late making mine. .

 

Finished the seat belt installation in the front of my '40 two-many door, installed the replacement speedometer that showed up at noon, and worked on the air deflector for the top of the grille. It might be drive able again by Saturday...

 

Pulled the pan today. Hell yeah she's a 4 bolt and clean as hell.

 

Yes a alumonum bracket with two bolt holes and one larger threaded hole.

 

Back in November at a estate auction I bought a Desoto that had a 50 ford pannell truck grafted on to it. Truly a Hideous affair. I paid $50. It was in a bad place and with the winter weather and over a 100 miles away. I just never got to haul it home. however I stripped some parts from it. Among the parts I took the rear (Barn Doors) today I sold that pair of doors for a $100. A old buisness man once told me that as long as you can sell at a profit you wont go broke.

 

Caught the youngest making out with the family ‘37 while contemplating “to do’s” in the garage.

Got the motor mounts welded in, installed the 3rd member, bolted in the motor and trans and then set the body on the frame.

 

I have a pair of those porter cable grinders that I can't seem to kill. Aren't they about the same as black and decker?

First stop at the Town Hall for biscuits, strawberries, donuts and a pie.




Then the greenhouse for MORE flowers. Traveling with yer Sweetie can be fun!

Somebody’s been busy! EVERY road in my daily radius is brand new blacktop, just over the past month, and my BNGR’s lovin it!
