Hot Rods Model A front ride height concerns

I've got 3.5 inches ground clearance on the lowest point of the axle and 3.25 inches on the lower shock mount nut. The scrub line is ok even if the tire blew of the rim completely everything would be sitting on the rim, not the axle or shock mount. Is that enough clearance to be safe?

Are you saying you have a tire side wall height of less than 3.25”? Because it has to be less than that if, in case of it’s absence, everything else would still be above ground level.

I'd be a lot more worried about the front crossmember to frame attachment.

Good catch! Although, expanding the photo, it does appear there is a boxing channel/plate in there. But there is room for beefing a bit more.

 

It's hard to tell from the picture, but I'm not sure that you meet the technical definition of keeping all suspension components above the scrub line. How is the oil pan clearance?

 

The frame is a Brookville Roadster model A frame. I bought it from them at a show.

 

It looks like about the same as a million other hot rods out there with short tires and a drop axle. If you need some additional lowness, you can flatten the crossmember without affecting the scrub line.

Let the air out of a front tire,and see what you have left.

 

There are always trade-offs when running a lowered car. Just how much depends on how low you want to go.
