Going to be bolting a new roof onto my 34 soon and I'd assume something needs to go between the roof and rear panel and front posts to seal out water? What did they use originally and is there an even better modern method?

It's a very , very thin webbing . I think it was more to prevent squeaks .
    Maybe a little silicone .
I just bolted mine on , there is a an overhang lip that should keep most of the water out .

  3. Mine had a tar paper like gasket. I used left over windshield setting tape between mine when I put it back together.

I've done 4 32/33 pickups and I would describe the material between the roof and body as looking like thick friction tape?
