Took my fenders off and obviously need taller rear tires. The car has Centerlines on it now which I don't care for but they are super light weight so I thought maybe painting them black would make them look like steelies. They are 15x8 on the rear. I think the largest tire that will fit is a 31x10.50.

I shopped local stores as well as Tire Rack looking for a cool tire but nothing is jumping out at me. Most are AT truck type tires which I don't mind too much as I really like the Firestone Dirt Track tire look. Firestone makes it in 820-15 and I really would like a fatter tire plus they are a bit pricey.

I like the pie crusts too but the tallest I can find is 29.5".

Would like a tire that fills up the wheel well line as much as possible. I may channel the car eventually but for now it will be a highboy. I will buy new wider wheels if needed to get the correct look.

This is how it looks now:

Here are some that I like. I think the second two are channeled though.

What tires are you guys running (Please post photos if you can)? Thanks.

PS: The tires in my avatar were photoshopped by Moose so don't know what size they are but they look good.

Is that the "Cop Shop" coupe? Pretty much everything about that car is a big yes for me! What size tires though?

These are 750 x 16, Auburns. I love them! Have the look of Firestones, but ride smoother.

Moon discs would be cooler Han painted center lines, and still be nice and light.

This is what the Towel City 29.5s look like on a 10" rim.

I thought about Moon disks but not sure how to attach them to the CL's.

Well, that looks pretty darn good. That's the 10" wide tire? They look wider.

What size are those? Admittedly, I'm a '70s guy so my car may end up not being truly HAMB complaint and have more of the Lobek/Ohio look

Weld some threaded pieces of aluminum to the wheel lips.

10-24 3/8” long Allen buttonhead screws. I’ve used them for years on all the aluminum wheels including the 18” Wheel Vintiques made me in 2002 which are 6” wide with 32” Dunlop tires. (not shown) A27691B1-2B01-4333-8559-2B60643B5A98.jpeg

A friend gave me a pair of 'Light Truck' radials to set up my '27 tub. (hiboy, '32 rails)
Mounted them on narrow '35 Ford V8 wheels, tires are 2.65/75 X 16. 30" dia.
8" tread width, so they will fit nicely on my widened 6" wheels, also V8 wires.
Tires have lost the 'Light Truck' appearance since I 'buffed off' the busy lettering on the sidewalls, I may run these for awhile...

I ran 285/70/R15 BFG's on 8 inch rims on several 32 highboy sedans I built in the past. Also ran 145R15 Michelin XZX's on the front on 5 inch rims. Had the right look to me?

I know, roadster but tires are tires. 29x10x16 Towel City. They drive out real nice.

  21. I have those on the rear of my coupe.....as far as I know they aren't made anymore. Mine are 20+ years old and getting worn.
This thread is timely, been thinking about new tires.....
