I had a thread going on how to remove the oil pan from my 51 Ford 8BA pickup engine.
Well I have the pan off and now I'd like to pull the crank timing gear.
I have a few different 2 and 3 jaw pullers but none of their jaws are thin enough to slip down between the front of the block and the back of the gear.
I've thought about trying to heat the gear with an O/A torch but I hate to use that under the truck with it up on the rack.
    Anyone done this recently?

Enough room to drive a couple wedges between the timing gear and the block?!

Oops! Disregard, it’s the crankshaft gear.

Rich, is that gear pressed on the cam? Or, bolted?

I hate to say it, but a simple puller isn’t going to cut the mustard. You need to use an arbor press.

    What Sam Hassebrock used.

Cam need to come out for that.

Oh, one on the cam? Back of my shop has remnants of a fiber gear from a 59a from a few years back.
