Blasting would probably be the simplest. it would be rather hard to find a container large enough to stick it in and soak it with citric acid or another popular concoction. I used my Eastwood Contour on a fender on my OT daily that had the shipping coating on it and I got a bit slow about getting that off and priming and painting it right. Not that much rust but ugly. A bit spendy if you don't have a serous amount of use for one though.
Concrete etching acid and scotch brites. I used muriatic outside and still was a bit rough on the old intake system. Got my over rocks nice and clean though.
Dustless blasting will take about 30 minutes to make it look like new and they use a rust preventer to help against flash rust. the water in the dustless blasting helps cool the metal to help avoiding warpage that can happen if the blaster isn't careful.
Theres a utube video about a product called DRX.I have never used it so im just going by the video.It sprays on,and hoses off.
This took 35 minutes. Spray it on.. Lay a paper towel over it spray it again let it soak. Follow it up with a wet scotch bright pad and dry it off. Note where it was spilled You then can store it indoors for a year without rerusting. Metal prep's that leave a zinc phosphate coating will extend the service life of your paintwork much longer.
Ospho is a rust converter. If you leave it dry it leaves a iron oxide coating the Mastercoat prep is like they use in the automobile plants is phosphatides the metal and is ideal for body panels. They both are good products
