so, i picked up a 260 V8 ford for my 26 T roadster im building. it has a 2 speed auto trani behind it. i need a yoke to fit the trani and im having a heck of a time finding it. does anyone here have one or know where i can get one? im in exeter mo, thank you all. hope this is posted in the right area
What model Ford or Mercury did the trans come from? Have you counted the number of slides and measured the shaft diameter? Obviously, that is an early to mid ‘60s setup, so it should be too difficult to find access to a Hollander interchange manual and identify a part number and other common model useage. Ray
I have one, still connected to my trans, but it will take me a while to dig it out. For the moment, I can tell you it is different from the C4 yoke because I had to buy a new one when I did my trans swap. I think it's an oddball, like 25 spline.
I can't remember for sure, but it seems to me that back when I was fooling around with Falcons and Comets, the yokes on the two speeds were the same as the very early C4s. Even some 1964 four speeds used the oddball 25 spline output shaft. But the best thing we ever did with a two speed was to replace it with a C4.
You will want to check U-joint width and bearing cap diameter to get right one for the drive shaft/ yoke combo.
it is a 28 spline, i will stick to the 2 speed trani. it will fit the era of build im going for. i would like to find a complete drive shaft but that may never happen lol
So I got the yoke and counted splines. I was right, 25 splines. Source was 63 Falcon, 260 with 2 speed. Yoke has part number C2YA4868A. Also, be aware if you're shopping yokes that this is 9" long and the splines are pretty far recessed inside.
I think it is entirely possible that the OP’s unit, being sourced from a Galaxy, has 28 splines. IMO that needs to be absolutely verified before spending money on one, new or used. Ray
yes, mine is for sure galaxy. i have the car it came out of. its numbers matching but crunched in the rear real bad
