Best part about this, it will have that new truck feeling all over again. Love the shop and dig the truck, congrats on 185k. Huge milestone and shows how well these ole gals were made, built to last not be tupperware in 10 years.

  10. I like how the bed floor is not a show truck with all shiny hardware but the way they were from the factory.

It's great to see this truck it still around and all the miles you put on it. Even better to see you're doing a rebuild for many more miles of enjoyment!

  12. I wondered if you had seen this @Chris!

Thanks for all the kind words... I took 2 evenings off from doing bodywork to do a few mechanical things, reinstall fuel system, reinstall wiring, and dash parts.... so the good thing is it is self propelled again, no more pushing it around the shop!!!

Great rebuild of great build. My brother got 300,ooo miles out of a 59 Chevy short bed before some phone distracted lady ran him off the road and he flipped it and killed his truck.

Unfortunatly. Without a paint booth I paint in the driveway of my shop when it isn't raining or behind it in the grass...or sometimes in my backyard at my house........building stuff outside is a habit that doesn't die hard...even when you luck into a shop big enough for all you junk lol.

My body. Has informed me to NOT do that anymore...

Thanks. After studying your interior shop shots with no obvious spray booth, I figured damn, this TruckNut is Old School, spraying outside!

You’re obviously mastered the art of “en plein air” painting!
    Any hints?

    Beautiful work! You’ve inspired me.

  23. Now you've done it...…...too nice for a daily driver.

  24. Ive always been a fan of this truck too, so its cool to see you give it a Birthday.

No new pics to post yet...some boring stuff done like put in seat and seatbelts for the kids..

Thanks so much....... it just takes an ancient compressor that is too small for the job, a 20 dollar paint gun. And a 70ish degree day that isn't too windy...and no rain!!!!

Other than that. I try my best to do decent prepwork......it is not something I am good at or enjoy, I am just too cheap to pay someone else to do it!!

I sure hope it doesn't turn out too nice for my daily, otherwise I will have to build another truck before winter!!!!! I do not have the $$ for that.

In fact I had to take some time off of working on it this weekend to play some music for $$ and work on some other folks cars so I could order a few more parts and get more supplies...

Hopefully I can finish it up in the next 2 or 3 weeks....

And thanks for the shop complements...it really is my slice of heaven!!!! The age, vib, the location....I love everything about it.

Having an indoor and heated (coal furnace) space is amazing after building stuff in the driveway in the snow for decades!!! Plus I hated leaving cars I put a bunch of effort into sit outside in the snow all winter.

Stripped the tops of the running boards tonight and epoxy primed them...

Repaired and filled the wrecked orange front fenders that I salvaged from a truck I repaired this spring (I originally built the truck for the guy a few years back)....the truck got creamed by a 55 chevy...and he wanted NEW fenders and told me to keep the damaged ones as a "tip"!!!

Luckily I was able to metalwork them straight again. An just had to fill the areas where the paint and filler cracked and I growing it dow or got damaged when I hammered and dollyed them... I brushed some epoxy primer on the filler in this areas... once it cures well i will block them and prime them paint them black.

I also barely got started on mudding the rear fenders... I also primed a better passenger fender that I did a little metalwork on for my 55 chevy project while I had the primer mixed...
