I did a thread on that car awhile ago Bob. Anthony has gotten running well again.Not a nut and bolt restoration...just a solid reconditioning.They used a razor blade to remove the many layers of paint down to the black.

 

That is good news, amazing what you can do with a razor blade, takes some patients to develop the feel for it. Stripped a Rolls Royce years ago swapping out for sharp blades is the key. Bob

It looks to have all the right stuff as a real car except for the wire wheels, almost thought there was photoshop work done. Bob

Does anyone out there know how to do an Austin 7 dropped axle?

Most of them were done by whoever the local blacksmith happened to be back in the day. One of them in South London (Townsends) had a flame cut jig which fitted in a big press. The axle beam was heated to cherry red and went in between the two parts of the press jig. Probably not much help to you if you are based in the US but this company still do dropped A7 front axles.

Great photos. Austin Seven "Ulster" sports models appear to ubiquitous in modern day UK competition events.

The Austin factory are generally reckoned to have made about 175 of this model, of which about half were the supercharged version - there aren't any definitive numbers because most of the build records held at Austin's factory were destroyed during WW2 bombing raids.

By comparison, the White haired bloke -Rod- in the photo below told me he has now made 200 of these "rivet perfect" Ulster bodyshells. This one was being loaded into my truck earlier this week, the bonnet (hood) and spare wheel cover are loaded inside the body.

I'll be installing this on top of a period modified chassis along with a supercharged pressure lube motor, close ratio gearbox and such. It takes Rod two weeks to make one of these bodies. No power tools used; all the seams are (perfectly) gas welded.

 

Rolfzoller, Is there a market for old issues of the Bulletin? I have enough to fill a Flat Rate box.

Hello Bob, there is actually not a real market for old issues. I only know that some very old issues are interesting for collectors. The best is you ask the Librarian of the VSCC ,[email protected]
