Not sure I quite understood what you were asking, but I used a repro rear floor panel section, and installed it with rivets so it had a stock appearance . Of course I had to cut a hole for a model A rear x member though.

 

Did some work on the drivers door bottom to tune up the gaps and then hit it with a few coats of feather fill g2. Going to spend the weekend doing some blocking...

 

Sorry if I wasn't clear, I read early on in the post somebody was selling two original rear floor panels, I wondered if you used them?

Tell me about it shipping kills and In port duty. But if you want it bad enough you don't have a lot of choice. Your roadster is nicely coming on, I wish I had an original body, I have a brookville and going towards a 60s style.

thanks for the comments! Yep- I’ll be painting in about a month. For wiring I have cloth covered wire and it will be old school with wax string ties rather than plastic zip ties. Stay tuned!

 

Been doing more wet sanding and priming. I’m down to 600 and 2k high build. It’s looking pretty straight.

also got the motor buttoned up. This will be a temporary motor until I can afford to build a full 284 stroker. This is an old rebuild that had good bores and bearings:
1940 block with 8ba front cover
Skip Haney water pumps
3 5/16 x 3.75”
Potvin 3/8 can
Oversized valves
H&H Scot blower
Old, near NOS SAE heads that I polished
Converted Mallory yc

 

Can someone with one of these H&H blowers please let me know the belt part number for the 2 drive belts??

 

Hot Dam Matt I really like your build. Wish I could afford to step up to a blower like yours for my French FH build. Oh well maybe someday.

thanks! I got really lucky on the blower deal. It was a pre-owned setup originally sold in 2007 to a guy in Pennsylvania. Sat on a shelf and never was actually ran. It was still a ton of money but significantly less than a new setup. I figured it being a real Henry roadster, I wanted to do something really special and jumped on the deal before I could talk myself out of it.

 

Thanks a lot- I ground a deep V groove in the bones and did several passes. This was the second to final pass.

If H&H can't help you. To save yourself a couple of trips to the auto store. Measure it with a rope and buy a couple sizes longer and shorter. You can always return the unused ones. Belts come in 1/2 in lengths

Is the little idler for the waterpump belt to clear the dizzy? If so that's a heck of a bend coming off the blower pulley.

 

Are you driving the waterpumps off the crank or blower pulley? It looks like there maybe third smaller sheeve spot on the crank pulley.

 

So, the water pumps are driven off the rearward most crank pulley and the outer 2
Drive the blower. The small idler is only for the water pump circuit. The blower pulley is a 3 sheave setup but the outermost one is not used. I may have a new pulley made that turns the un-used pulley section into a blank to bolt the fan to.

 

Ok, Looks like a nice setup. With the blower shaft offset from the center of the motor, it maybe problematic with clearances for the fan.
Are you running a hood?

Actually on the Scot - the blower pulley is pretty well centered so I’m going to see what I can get away with.

 

Hey guys- The good news is it’s finally got some color on it: 1969 Ford Royal Maroon which is close to the 1948 ford Monsoon Maroon I was after. The bad news is that I still have a lot of wet sanding and buffing to do. Here is the post game highlights:

Butt into decklid=1
Hose into paint=2
Gnats=hundreds
Big fat beetle that crawled it’s way down the entire quarter before I ejected him=1
Orange peel= not an embarrassing amount
Wet sand and polish ahead of me=yep
Body=straight!!
Color=badass!

Very nice job, that maroon looks perfect on the roadster! What a great sense of accomplishment it is to see some color after all the hard work.

 

Great color choice. That is separates a god painter from a mediocre painter ..... how they deal with all the little boo boos.
