I have a question I'm not a super mechanic just wanted to get on here and get help on my build . I have a 1954 bellair and wanted to either put airbags on my car . I see theres tubular arms on the internet but there for 55 and up bellair. Is it a huge difference if I get the tubular arms that's for a 55 bellair? I also have a 1950 chevy 5window 3100 truck what rear end ford 9inch can I use for both to also have disk brakes I heard out of a explore can be used and comes possi also , ppl tell me if I do a s10 swap on the truck and reinforced the frame could work if I want to beef up the engine and also use as a daily drivers ? Any help thanks if theres any tips would help alot one more thing I wanted to put a loker shifter manual on the hump on the 54 do I need a plate? Sent from my SM-G955U using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
Completely different front end on the 54 from the 55.No interchange between them.Your car is related to the 49-54 Chevy car,and 53-62 Corvette.
I would leave the front end alone but clean everything up and make sure its all nice and tight. They ride pretty good so long as the alignment is right.. If your going to change it you'll have to change the whole sub frame..
When building my car, I toyed with the idea of clip swaps, m2 kits, and after tons of research these stock front ends are good for just about everything and built to last. REplace bushings wear points etc, and call it good. Droplord here has done a tech article on stepping control arms, about the best in depth for a quick 2" to get low. Bagging the front suspension isnt too difficult, lowrider magazine did an article on it and shows some of the ways to do it, cutting out spring cut and re enforcing the rail around it, can be done and saves alot of work. S10 clip drives ok, but something to be said for these stock front ends, and surprisingly the handling of the stock front suspension is pretty dang good. Probably will step my control arms for 2 more inches of drop and scrape everywhere soon. Here is my gal, drive her almost every day, v8 swapped.
