Yes. Work in progress. Went to my bearing supplier and there is nothing off the shelf so I need to pull apart and gut a couple of other spare modern columns and turn the shaft to suit.
It’s hard to believe that each morning I arrive at work I’m awaited by a such beautiful sight. It’s come together almost easily. That said it is only when you go back to the early germination of ideas you understand the enormity. The hulk I dragged home less than a year ago is a far cry from what sits here now. All along the way I’ve had input from many sources. Each line, each shape is carefully thought out and ideas debated. Rik Hoving , as usual, has generously assisted every step of the way. What you don’t see is the many exchanges between us. My messages back and forth with Rik is 500 plus exchanges. So here are a few Photoshop’s that we mulled over just yesterday, ideas and technical issues. I’d also like to thank James D and Wolf for taking me out of my comfort zone early on and taking it to another level. Those ideas have found there way onto the car. It has been a collaboration, is what I’m getting at.
I'm having a hard time seeing the differences in most of the last photos. Can you describe the main variations?
I really like it with the detail line through the cowl and door. I also think I like it best with it going all the way to the fender. That is going to be gorgeous.

I am loving this. I was prepared to hate the top because it was modern-sourced but it really works on this application with the shapes of the car, matches up really nice. It's a great feat in itself to fix a car as rough as that one was, it's a much bigger feat to make it look like something that could cost a million dollars. Looking forward to watching it come together even further.
I hear you Squablow. I was anticipating flack as well. The rear window will be removed and I’m tossing up a Mail slot. Or a fancy double kidney shaped Bugatti inspired rear window.

Next debate is Lincoln door button position. Nb Rik tweeked door just a little more and to my mind is close to perfection.
Would it be crazy to use this version, but create a larger diameter recess around the button to make it more intentional...almost like a medallion? Seems like it would be a nice detail.

I agree, door button needs to be at the front, the detail line needs to run all the way through to the rear fender and the straighter door bottom looks best. Recessing the button would really set things off too.

My boss in Perth has a 38 Horsch roadster. I guess I must have soaked it in. When I had a look under the car I could see where bomb plates had been welded in and then removed. Doors will open like this.
They also Had DeDeon rear suspension an had a unusual looking head surface. The one Mike had still had the plates under it, a real piece of history, he doors opened from the front like a 33 Ford. I always thought they looked fast sitting still. Frank
