    I would pass on it. Especially if you let the friend know it could be worth something.
    It probably isn't worth much, and if you say as much and pay a low price, the friend might think you weren't offering a fair price and resent it. Once somebody hears that something could be worth money, it is normal that they become suspicious when a person later says it isn't, and offers a suitable low price.

    Conversely, you could offer a small sum for only the mounting bracket and leave the tank behind for scrap.

    That tank may not be an Eelco, but it sure is interesting. Keep the tank, clean it up and sell the brackets if you must. I have a flip top tank with early Moon brackets (the spring mounted kind), sort of a mix and match set, doesn't bother me. Show us a pic when you get the tank beautified, Carp.

    As was said it's not an Eelco tank, the dragster pic below is a similar type tank. I think I read once that they may have been used in aircraft too hold some type of liquid, possibly de-icer.

    I was referring to your initial question about how much to offer the current owner of it:

    "I’d like to give her a fair price for it thou. Any ideas?"

  13. Yes, as stated earlier in the thread I would like the brackets to compliment my early Eelco tank in my Henry J that has homemade brackets.

  16. The tank is from an aircraft, not sure the exact use. They were available at military surplus stores and used on many old drag cars. I have an old speed catalog somewhere that has them in it also. Cool old tank but no great value. I bought a nice one a few years back for $80.

    The first picture shows a tag of some kind on the tank . Is there any numbers or anything on it ? The tank looks like a wall mounted or vertical mount tank. which bolted onto the front of a grill would be cool and unusual .

    I have to ask. I've always liked the look of the tanks on the front of a hot rod. I know they were used for fuel on race cars. So what are you guys using them for on the street?

    How can I contact Eightydeuce on one of his photos? He has a photo of my cousin's car, who has now passed on, and I'd like to purchase a copy from him. Can anyone help me with this?

    simply click on @Eightydeuce name and go to "start a conversation". are you sure he owns the paper photo? it may just be a digital image. If it is the latter, just right click on the pic and go to save image as......

    I like them with the bottom cut out and covering a battery in front of a '32 grille,
    the battery cables look like fuel lines.. seems there is never a good place for a battery...

    let the booing start...!!!!!
