on the pad at the right front of a chevy small block there is a number m06019vp. can anybody on the forum identify this block. ie c.i.,comp.ratio,yr. etc. ? thanks
M means Mexico, doesn't it? Replacement crate engine....looks like the VP is the low perf "universal" replacement engine. You can look for more clues, like a pan with a dipstick bulge on both sides, "hecho en mexico" cast on the top rear of the block, etc.
VP does exist, listed as a truck 1969 215hp 350ci L-65 with manual trans 2bbl 3/4t P series low compression motor
Yes, but that one would say T or F at the beginning, not M. Although it could be what the replacement engine, is supposed to replace.
Agree but I'm not familiar enough with P vans to know if they had Mexican motors or not.... P code was also used for motorhomes/RV stuff I think.
now you got me interested...so I looked in my 1969 Chevy truck parts book. There is no VP code listed anywhere. Lots of two letter codes that start with U W X Y, but no V.
I'll try to get more info and picks on this block and post it in a couple of days. I appreciate you guys taking time to help me with this puzzle, chevy engines can be difficult !
According to Mortec.com, it is a 350: https://www.mortec.com/castnum.htm Search for casting number 10066036
I just yanked the engine from my box van being used for storage.. Presumed it had original engine. But NO got a replacement same engine suffix as the OP.. It is a Mexico engine dual dip stick holes, States goodwrench on valve cover so is it a target or a GM engine..
If you got a good one they are fine, put 1 in a '34 ZZ Top car I built, had 1 in a 30 Roadster I bought. Was 14 yrs. old when I sold the car, dial in a bunch of timing, run Premium fuel . In a 2800 lb car ran scary fast.
It's a 4 bolt block that came with a cast crank, low compression pistons, and 76 cc chamber heads. I am Butch/56sedandelivery.
