I received an e-mail from Goodguys yesterday saying that the July events were scheduled to go on as planned. They were working with the scheduled venues to make sure it was alright to hold events at the scheduled fairgrounds
The email didn’t confirm that any shows would happen in July only that they were still planning them pending the ok from the scheduled venues. They hope to have events positive by June 17.
That's surprising, my friends in Ohio said the State is still calling for no more then 10 people in any gathering. Goodguys must know something different.
I know that it would still be very hard to say they were going to happen even in mid June. Everything depends on what individual states decide will happen.
Syracuse Nationals went from "full speed ahead" early this week to "postponed to 2021" the next day. Hard to see any large scale events happening in July.
I would have to agree. KKOA still have the Leadsled Spectacular scheduled for late July in Salina, I love this show, however because of the large crowd of spectators I will not attend this year.
If the GG's have the nationals in Columbus at The Ohio State Fair grounds it would be the only event at the fairgrounds this year. The state of Ohio has cancelled all other events, or so I have been told. KK
The Right Coast guys were all set to put on the Syracuse Nationals, but NY said NO to using the State Fairgrounds for the show. Ohio (and most states) will probably do the same for any shows at State/county Fairgrounds.
A friend sent me this last week: Just got a text message from a Good Guys rep. He said that as of right now the Des Moines event is a go. June 4 is when the final decision is being made, but it's looking promising. As of right now they are capping it the first 2500 pre registered cars. (about half of last year)
Interesting. I wonder how they will handle a guy who did not know that and drives 4-5-6 hours to get there to enter their car for the weekend and told - nope. Ooooo boy.
Just like they did in Pleasanton when the police issued all the 'blue law' tickets at their event. Favorite was the 'retracting license plate', got 10+ cars with that one.
The Ohio State Fair is canceled so I do not see any way they would let Goodguys in Columbus to happen. The only up side I see to all the shut downs is all the money I have saved this year, hut it still pisses us off goes it not?
I think that it's wishful thinking by both N.S.R.A. and Goodguys. Once the state get's wind on how many people are expected, they will be forced to pull the plug. If the A.A.C.A. cancelled HERSHEY, and that's over four months away, nothing is going to happen this year. We go to the Louisville Nationals every year and can't imagine posting security at every door to the exhibition hall and only allowing a couple of people in at a time. Once we get into the building, how are they going to police safe distancing, gloves and face masks. My entire group has cancelled already.
Good Guys are planning July events and beyond all a go - search for changes in some dates= https://www.good-guys.com/covid-19-updates
woodiewagon46, FWIW part of the Louisville Fairgrounds Exhibit Halls has been converted into a COVID-19 Hospital. I haven't seen any information yet on the NSRA Nats one way or the other. I think you made a good decision to cancel a long road trip and all the expense going to an event even if held may only be a shell of what it usually is. I can attend with no expense except for joining in on a tent rental. Not even doing that with the uncertainty of it even being held. The COVID 19 virus cases in Kentucky and Indiana is not over by a long shot.
Cedar Point, water parks, casino's can all open in 2 weeks. I'm sure it is with some restrictions but at least they are allowed to open.
Sounds good. I don't blame you for taking care of your health. We all have to do what we feel is best for us but we all have to realize we might not have a next year at any age and I don't want to miss a year of what I love over such a small risk. Take care of yourself and it will be great seeing you next year.
Fellas this isn’t going to turn in a virus discussion. Virus subject with be deleted. This discussion is on the upcoming Goodguys events. If you go - you go - if you don’t you don’t.
I’m waiting on updates for Goodguys York, PA in Mid August. It would be my first GG event if it’s a go.
The Frog Follies is the best rod runthere is. Sorry to see it get cancelled. Indiana has been hit hard by the virus.
