Technical 64 Fairlane rear 8 inch narrrowing 1"

    I have a Maverick 8” going in my 65 Falcon, and I’m not too worried about it (because I am old, I guess), but remember, the 63, 64, and 65 Fairlane with the 289/271 came with a 9” as part of the package.

    If you are at all familiar with an automotive assembly plant and the design and release process, you will understand that something seemingly so simple is a relatively large project to integrate into a production facility, especially for such a low production option.

    Ford must have really thought it was important to have a 9” in the hipo cars.
     
  2. True, but the same motor in the Mustang got the 8". Shelby had to add the 9" for the GT350s...

    I'd say do it once and do it right.
    It is a good thing you asked the question as you have numerous replies and a great choice of solutions.
    Short cuts rarely last or hold up and who wants to be stuck on the side of the highway...
