Socalcarculture shows "open" for a few get togethers starting in June... Donut Derelicks in Huntington Beach never stopped. Had over 200 cars today and over 300 people. 99% with NO face coverings and not many keeping any distance from others...

Please Spread The Word To Everyone!!!! UPDATE!! We have just been informed this morning that the governor of North Carolina's current opening regulations will be preventing us from holding the MT AIRY show the first weekend in June as planned. As we don't want to get the veterans or local authorities in trouble by moving forward with the show we have sadly decided that we have to move the date YET AGAIN! The state of Virginia has even stricter regulations than North Carolina currently so Floyd in July seems unlikely so heres what we are planning to do.....

    Chasing Cars in Mt Airy - July 17, 18 & 19
    Floyd Auto Fair - August 14, 15 & 16
    NO Dublin Show This year
    Autumn Leaves Mt Airy - October 9, 10 & 11

We very much apologize for all the changes especially this being so last minute. Reservations will of course be moved forward to new dates. If you require a refund for this change please let us know and we will get it sent right out to you. Again, our apologies and we look forward to seeing you all very soon!!

Yet it's 3 weeks to the twice rescheduled Spring Carlisle and they are apparently plowing ahead like they won't be in violation of the no groups larger than 250 people rule that will be in effect during the show. I think they spent the space money already and can't issue refunds.

    Hello,

After having gone to Reno many times and to the Hot August Nights a couple of times, it is sad to have it fall under the pandemic axe. It takes over all of Reno, some of the neighboring towns. There is not a major road that one will not see a hot rod or two cruising around. When we were there, it was so hot, the ice cream melted in the bowl and cone. One had to eat it fast before it melted into the hand and ground. The A/C in the hotel room was a wonderful relief.

As the event grew, the look has changed to include other years instead of just pre-48 in the early years. But, there are only a few events that limit participation on this scale and big name city. After all, it is Reno, "The Biggest Little City in the World."

Not that Reno was our destination location, but it was an overnight stay both times during an inland 395 Highway road trip and the stop over from a family gathering at Lake Tahoe. The place is hot and normally not our cup of tea, but hot rods and photo opportunities abound. (Well, back then it did.)

Here is the latest from June 2, 2020:
HOT AUGUST NIGHTS POSTPONES 34TH EVENT UNTIL 2021

ONGOING COVID-19 CONCERNS FOR VOLUNTEER AND PARTICIPANT SAFETY IS THE PRIORITY.

Hot August Nights in Reno, Virginia City canceled due to COVID-19 concerns, to return in 2021

This year's Hot August Nights, an annual classic car run in the Reno, Sparks and Virginia City areas, has been canceled due to COVID-19 concerns, organizers announced Tuesday. The 34th annual event will resume in 2021.

Noting that the decision to cancel the event for 2020 was made "with great sadness" organizers wrote on the official website that the "decision was not made lightly" and that they had spent many hours doing their due diligence considering all options and recommendations by the CDC, State of Nevada, local government and health officials to keep its 6,000 volunteers and participants safe.

"We hoped conditions would have improved to allow community special events, but with the requirements that are being mandated we find they are not realistic for an event the magnitude of Hot August Nights," the statement said.

We strongly feel our number one priority for Hot August Night is the safety and well-being of our car participants and highly dedicated volunteer members. In good conscious we cannot ask them nor our vendors, staff, guests and the community to subject themselves to any risk.

With the restrictions we are faced with right now, we know we would not be able to produce a high quality event that Hot August Nights is recognized for. Some of our events would have to be canceled due to crowd restrictions significantly impacting the overall experience and excellence of Hot August Nights.

Please understand that this decision was difficult and heartbreaking. However, due to the uncertainty of these unprecedented times we feel it is the responsible and best decision for all involved.

Vintage Torque Fest, Dubuque IA is reporting they got the green light for the July 4-5 event. Might be the first in the nation, plus as most already know, it's main purpose is fundraising for family health care costs. Good show for us to support.

This pre 49 only is one of the best events in the Midwest every year.

  21. All of us need to pay attention to this. The few get-togethers we've been having, Amarillo as well, I've heard or observed the same no masks, no distancing. C'mon guys..don't you think the folks that are giving approval/disapproval to upcoming events are aware of, or watching this lack of following the "rules". We're probably screwing ourselves, but of course, it's just my humble opinion.

  22. BTW, the July 4 Santa Fe NM pancake breakfast and car show has been cancelled. I received a flyer last Saturday at our 1st Saturday cruise in for a car show and cruise in Hereford, Tx on July 4th, and I got word (and a flyer today in the mail) that the big cruise weekend in vernon, Tx is a go!! That's August 7, 8th. Hope it's cooler than last year's 100+*

    Hello,

It is a sad case of events, but the weekly events during the spring and full summer in Escondido, CA is not happening this year. One of the nicest places to be every Friday night during the summer months is in Escondido. Although, sometimes it is a little warm towards the end of summer. Freeway close to the greater San Diego region and just down the coast from LA and Orange Counties. The Inland Empire Counties have a back road to get down to Escondido, using Highway 15 and feel the salt air up the I-5 going back home.
    upload_2020-6-10_3-56-10.png
Grand Avenue is the home to hot rods, custom cars and trucks to cruise the avenue. It is a built-in car show and cruise every Friday night from April to September. The Grand Finale is always the last Friday night in September. The local So Cal race cars are putting on a Grand Finale to the whole cruising scene. Nitro Night! Bring your ear plugs and don’t breathe in deeply! That was what is expected…
    upload_2020-6-10_3-56-44.png

    Jnaki

The whole event on a weekly basis is home to Friday night cruising. But at the end of the summer season, Nitro Night closes the event for the year. It is pretty difficult to keep the 6 feet apart social distancing along the street/sidewalks as everyone gathers to see the nitro racers come down the street. It is a mass gathering of hot rod/drag racing enthusiasts. So, masks, distancing, gloves, all should be applied, but it will hold this event back due to the location.
    upload_2020-6-10_3-57-21.png

There is always next year for the hot rod/Nitro Night!

    upload_2020-6-10_3-58-10.png
    Nitro Night activities: from 2019
"The event expects to have about 24 cars, for the push down, staged at Juniper and Grand Ave, many more on display on Broadway. First fire is at about 6:00pm. 7pm Race cars will be started, followed by Nitro Cars at 8pm and then the push down to Broadway’ “Nitro Night Rev Zone” at about 8:00pm. This event will be exceptionally loud, so Cruisin’ Grand Escondido recommends NOT bringing pets or infants. There will be ear plugs at the O’ Reilly booth for any donation."
    upload_2020-6-10_3-59-40.png
THERE IS SOME RAY OF HOPE FOR THIS YEAR. If it does get reinstated, it will be difficult due to the nature of the location. Cruising in cars would be ok, but the spectators lining the street sidewalks and car show location presents a BIG problem. No one wants to be responsible for the continued upsurge in cases if the event happens. There is always next year and hopefully no war against the virus…

    Hello,

The organizers are asking for some help. Not that the OK has been given or that they can make the decision without state health officials approval. This may be early, but they see the light of day in the long tunnel. For most, it is hard to see, as the counts go up with every gathering, large or small. So, it is up to the city and state governments as to the OK to have these Friday night cruises and the final Nitro Night as been in the past.

    Jnaki
The historic avenue and shops will still be there next year, as will the cruisers and definitely the Nitro FED race cars.

Model A swap meet in Devore, CA is still on as of right now per this on their web site:

I am getting a lot of questions about our Swap Meet. So far we are planning to have the swap meet on Saturday, September 26th. As long as the Little League Headquarters will allow us and the state & county regulations approve it. I think that we will scale down the Food Service to Water and Soda ONLY. We will recommend Masks and Social Distancing for Buyers and Sellers.

    Frog Folllies 2020 Canceled.gif

E’ville Iron Streetrods Ltd. Has hosted the Frog Follies for the last 45 years. Our club prides itself on producing a world class event that thousands of people anticipate every year. It has been our mission to provide an affordable, fun, and safe event for participants, vendors, and spectators. As we approach this year’s 46th Annual show in August 2020, we have made a very difficult decision. After careful consideration, we have decided to postpone this year’s show, and reconnect with everyone in-person next August 27, 28, and 29, 2021.

It was hard to make this decision considering that the proceeds of our show are given to local organizations that help children and adults with physical impairments. Easter Seals, Wendell Foster, S.I.R.S, just to name a few.

The health and safety of our participants, vendors, sponsors and more than 50,000 attendees has always been our number one priority. With that being said, we have decided that the risks of having this event, outweigh the benefits of opening our gates this year.

Making this decision was inevitable after also recognizing that, even if all the restrictions have been lifted by our scheduled show time and we could assure the health and safety of everyone attending, it is not possible for us to put into place all the elements required to execute the quality event we are known for. We appreciate you understanding how difficult this decision was and know that some people will be upset by the decision and others will applaud it. Either way, please know that we are acting in what we believe are the best interests of not only our club but those of the streetrodders and the community.

Thank you for your understanding and your past, present, and future support.

To our currently registered Rodders and vendors:
We will be automatically rolling over your 2020 deposits and payments to the 2021 show. If you need to cancel your reservations and you would like to receive a refund please contact us by phone at 812-428-FROG or mail at:

    E’ville Iron Street Rods Ltd.

    Hello,
This Saturday was supposed to be the 25th annual San Clemente Car Show that closes the main street (Del Mar) through the downtown area, almost down to the pier and beach. Since those early Father's Day events, then moving to Saturday, so as not to conflict with the L.A. Roadster Show, it has grown tremendously. What is not to like about attending a somewhat low key event near the beach? A few blocks to the beach and it becomes an all day event.

The new date has been officially been posted for June 12, 2021, just yesterday.

During this portion of June, the fog sometimes just sits offshore until it decides it is time to move a little inland. For the past several days of 85-90 heat days, the fog bank has been sitting on Catalina Island just waiting its turn to make a mad dash to the shoreline and beyond. The hot rods and custom cars will have to utilize the Saturday Cars and Coffee event at the Outlets for this Saturday and wait until next June for the annual car show in the downtown area.
