Been without a HAMB friendly ride for a few years. Been looking to no avail. Overpriced crap on the market. Then this late 46 Super Deluxe Coupe showed up on CL. Ad was only 18 hours old when I found it. Car was only about 25 miles away. Other than the 12 volt conversion and a 1966 283 engine, car is remarkably unmolested. Has some flaws, but I am one happy camper ! Sold my MH to finance the Ford. Lots of pics.

So nice to find something that is tastefully done. No billet crap or Chinese chrome add ons.

looks like something out of the 50s or 60s. Also came with a trunk full of parts. Still taking inventory.

  8. Lookin' good. That upholstery is unusual, perhaps 1960s?

Yeah, The weird upholstery is very unusual. Part of the charm. Gotta look into a slight external carb leak. 2bbl Rochester. Wonder if the electric pump needs regulation.

Nice score. There is the look of 46 that the 47 & 48 don't have, the position of the parking lights. The ribs in the moldings and the red accent color on the grill and dash. I think that sets them apart from the other 2 years. Thanks for posting. Frank

I really dig the bowling ball pattern vinyl and the old black paint, even showing some age is very pretty. Way cooler than any motor home I've seen.

  17. Very cool! Congrats! I just found out I missed out on a 46 coupe I had been meaning to go check out for a few years now last week... :(

Never much of a "patina" guy, but that crazed black paint looks like whats left of it would buff up nice and shine for another couple of years

Make it roadworthy and safe. I really like the way the engine is done as an upgrade rather than a modification for maximum performance. It appears to have the original drive train other than the engine. Good luck and have fun with it. Even today there are many vehicles in garages many, even neighbors, don’t know about. Great find and purchase.

I totally agree. When push comes to shove, we all just want to get out there and drive our cars, and there almost seems to be an inverse correlation between performance/horsepower above stock and overall reliability/drivability. It's no fun watching your car sit there broken while the guy with the stock engine is out cruising and having a good time.

  22. I like it! Great find. Only thing that i don't care for is that bowling ball looking interior. Horrible...But, if you can live with it, okay, hahaha. 283 Chevy transplants were very common, after 1957.

  23. I like it...am I the only guy trying to figure out what "mh" means? You know, sold the "mh" to fund the Ford.

  24. I’m right there with you but from one of the responses think it is “motor home”. :D

Sure looks like a win to me. The interior isn't that bad. I kind of like it. The 283 was the best thing that ever happened to the flathead. :p

  26. Nice car. Looks like a good candidate for a total frame off restoration. The 283 will have to do till you get a HAMB required flathead back in that engine bay.

  28. HAMB required? What kind of bullshit is that? It's not a crate 350!
