Ron, was this poster from one of the car manufacturers?

  2. Lepus I don't know? I found this one at the Jalopyrama in Md. a few years ago. It's large, like 36'' x 36''.:) Thanks Ron.......

  4. My sales brochure Frank Pindar and Son here in Grand Gorge N.Y. started out as a livery stable and began selling Chevrolets in 1929. Went out in the early 1990's.

Grand Gorge N.Y. is a very small town (500 people) when my dad was a kid we had three new car dealers, a farm machinery dealer, two feed stores, two grocery stores, a hardware store, and a dry goods store. Now they are all gone replaced by petty crime and heroin!
A lot of family history for me-
My father worked there as a mechanic.
My Grandfather on my dad's side was a school teacher but worked in Pindar's office in the summers.
My Grandfather on my mom's side was a body man there.

I found this on C.L. recently, these would have been nailed to telephone poles back in 1957 to promote the race. IMG_4431.JPG

Robert, great post and very interesting history about Grand Gorge. I became a full time resident in the Catskills after 9/11 after many years of coming up here for the summer. In my driving thru the mountains, I have alway been curious about towns like Grand Gorge. They are filled with beautiful old houses that seemed to me like there were way too many for the amount of economic activity today. I guess the farming economy was the reason for it back then. Are you doing the Whitewall show this year, if so I will be there again haven't missed one yet.

Cool photos RatPwrd, but the Vintage Shots From Days Gone By thread would be a better place to post them. I would like to see as many of your dad's photos as you have the time to post.

  24. { THANKS RatPwrd ! } I really enjoyed your Dads photos. You can't post them enough, or on too many threads either. Everyone will like them for sure. You have been left a treasure. I think this is what Ryan was thinking when he started this forum. Thanks for sharing, and keep them coming. :) Ron............

031.JPG 032.JPG 033.JPG 036.JPG I bought this at an antique tool show. Being a machinist, and into industrial steam engines, I had to get it.The two guys in the portraits at the bottom are James Watt, early steam engine inventor and manufacturer and J. Starley, bicycle manufacturer.
