I bought a model a sedan a while back and its sat on the back burner for a while. It had a corvair clip put under it at one time. The previous owners pulled the front brakes apart and lost everything as far as hardware goes. I was wondering if there was any good source to buy all the hardware, springs and so on from. Most of what I can find is just individual parts. thanks for any help

Parts stores still carry Corvair brake parts. The four lug hub is '64 back and five lug is '65 to '69. I'm assuming you mean drum brakes.

Back in the day they put Camaro spindles and disc brakes on them.

You should be able to get all the drum brake parts from your local auto parts store or from Rock Auto online. Clark’s will have it too.
Now days Clark’s Corvairs also sells a disc brake conversion for stock Corvair spindles, 4 lug and 5 lug.
I did the Corvair IFS on my ‘33 coupe years ago using the Camaro ball joints, spindles, brakes and a rack and pinion. People look down on it now but it worked great. It also had a Corvette IRS rear end. My ‘33 was full fendered then so it was all hidden.

Post some pictures, worst they could do is delete em. Corvair stuff came out in 1960 and a few old hot rodders were playing with independent suspension back then. Ak Miller for example.

  8. I recommend Clark's Corvair is Massachusetts.

Easy way to determine if it is early or late Corvair front crossmember, see how the shock absorber mounts. You can see shock examples at Clark's website.

    http://www.corvair.com/user-cgi/catalog.cgi?show_page=138

    Note lower shock mount difference.

Once you know if your unit is early or late manufacture, you can order parts.

Kanter's is also good place to get Corvair brake parts. Good front wheel cylinders are the hardest part to find.

  11. I like that people can find us when they can't find what they need so we can tell them where to go.
