Sounds like a good plan. My biggest problem was access for trimming wires to length, soldering and attaching the wires to terminals and it looks like you'll have a similar situation. I took out the seats, but in hindsight I wish I had removed the little seat hinge posts, taken the linkage off the pedals so they would drop to the floor and used a piece of plywood with one end on the sill and the other on a couple milk boxes or a bench to have a level place to lie down and work comfortably.

LOL, I probably could have saved myself a day and about half a bottle of Advil. Seems like my places that twist and bend are not as flexible as they once were and I still have dents in my rib cage from those damned seat hinges.

Im going crimp and shrink tube,no way am I soldering everything..not that soldering isnt the best,been using crimp fittings for a long time,moisture and corrosion are the biggest issues,figure crimp and shrink will work..

 

And a desmo sounds KILLER.

 

i did the solder every connector , not sure i would do it again . much work !

There are epoxy "cold solder" products available. I haven't used one yet.

 

Clutch back in, louvered hood on. Coffee and Cruise tomorrow. Clutch doesn't slip. New Sterling Flywheel, it did get safety wire.

Came by the HAMB to put up a want ad and realized I should probably ask here too. I'm looking for a set of "Rocky Mountain" brakes for a Ford Model T. Any period accessory brake that fits the large drums from '26-'27 would be fine. I'm also looking into the reproduction Rocky Mountains, but want to cover all my bases. Most of the vintage accessory brakes I've found so far are for the small drums from '09-'25. Thanks!

 

Did you face your aluminum flywheel and how much does it weigh?

 

I don't know if you were asking me. It's a new steel flywheel that has a dynamic absorber in it. I imported 20 from the UK. I got 5 count 64 pound ones, 15 count 34 pound ones and 5 count 22 pound ones. The one pictured is a 64 lb one. Nobody wants them the others are all gone. It revs fine... Like I can turn 4400 RPM and feel like I could go higher. I have a 33 lb one on a flathead banger, same outcome and I can't tell much difference between the two. Going to see about Dyno results as soon as I can get access.

Can you show a picture of the dampener itself?. Dampening a flywheel is thinking outside the box.Ive seen lovejoy couplers used on pump lashups and fiber ring gears but never a dampener..

Check out harbor freight for their marine shrink tubing kit. Keeps the connection water tight!
