My two 40’s that I’ve owned in the past .The deluxe started out as a basket case originally brought over from Nebraska,.. it was bad.
The standard was imported into the U.K. from South Africa about fifteen years ago... it is RHD.... very nice car.

Last summer I got to drive a stock 40 Ford coupe... I was astonished at one thing, the handling!!!! It was stock except for having radial tires. It had manual hyd brakes, manual steering (faster ratio) and over drive, it also had a 1959 Chevy 348 tri power.. This car was one of the nicest cars I ever drove, it went over bumps so smoothly, took bends as well as any new car, stopped pretty good for drum brakes.. It was lowered slightly so Im not sure how stock it was.. He said all he did was the usual tricks of the day to it..
The owner is a perfectionest. I am sure everything on this car is adjusted absolutely perfect..

Funny, I remember my dad saying when new 60s cars came out with there power steering and power brakes how lousy they drove and handled. He said over and over he would put any of his old 40s Fords up against them..

Old School cool, club jackets, a club sponsored Saturday evening dance poster on the '40s trunk, the trailer hitch probably pulls a single axle trailer with car club drag car, these Cut Out guys harken back to my misspent youth in the Class of '60 in the Hudson Valley of NY. Finishing up the wiring and then it is off to the muffler shop. Since the frame was never stamped with a serial number, I have an attorney working through the Declaratory Judgement to get a title issued to me. Hopefully that will get settled in the next week or so, then it'll be licensed, insured, and on the road!

40RagTopDown, love the pic! How many coupes went that way, circle track warriors until they were so beat up they went for scrap. Had no value back then. I remember going to a junkyard in Red Hook, NY in '60 as I wanted a floor shift trans for my '47 tudor. I noticed a '40 pickup there, nice looking truck that was new to the inventory. Anyway went back next day to pick up the transmission and they had tipped that nice truck over, cut out the trans with a torch. Just the way it was back then.

I run my 69 el Camino daily except when it snows and they salt. I sprayed the under carriage, inner door panels, inner fenders and roof with Lubriplate Heavy Duty Gear Shield. It goes on wet and drys to a nice flat black finish. The metal stays surrounded in grease and never rusts.. Every now and then I hit it with the hose to clean it up but the grease stays intact..

I have posted my little car in this thread before, but I can't help it. I LOVE driving this car. It is by far, the most fun to drive car I have ever built. So far...
