    fc,

Looks like you've recently been to a bug killin'.

Where you snapped that pic is just about exactly where I hit a Junebug with my upper lip in about 1974, riding my BSA, with my then wife on the back, about midnight. Felt like I'd been shot with a 12 gauge. My head snapped back and got her right in the face. She never rode with me again; ever.

Back in the 60's and 70's (and probably before that but I'm not quite old enough to remember) that stretch of I-70 in the Missouri River bottom was just about like the Autobahn; that is I never saw any constabulary and hardly anyone was travelling anywhere nearly as slow as the speed limit.

b-t-w; do you know where Sandy Hook International Raceway is? I bet most every H.A.M.B.er who has ever lived in central Missouri does.

Sorry to derail this thread. Now back to what we've seen through our windshields.

I guess I never heard of or went to Sandy Hook. Any info on the location would be appreciated.

I'm sorry, I should have never mentioned it. Sandy Hook International Raceway was just what we called the couple of miles of Missouri highway 179 immediately south of the little hamlet of Sandy Hook (between Jamestown and Jefferson City). Straight. Flat. Nearly no traffic. Someone was out there racing just about any weekend night..

Again I apologize for derailing this very excellent thread.

Don't apologize for mentioning it. I've been through there but did not realize the history of the place. I saw it through my windshield so that counts.
