Hey guys. I know someone mentioned to me in another thread what this is, but I can’t for the life of me find it. Can you guys shed some light on this for me? Is there anything for my 1939 transmission that I could use from it??I’d like to send it down the road if there isn’t. What is a fair asking price for it??? Thanks Sent from my iPhone using H.A.M.B.
ford big truck 4 speed missing its hogs head. most are crash boxes, but the later synchronized units are saleable. 30's to 50's for a guess. whats the numbers on the case?
Nothing you can use. If it is the later box with 2nd, 3rd, and 4th syncros its worth something to the right person but not a lot. If its the early non syncro crash box worth scrap unless you find a big truck guy who needs a trans. IMO
I’ll have to look for numbers. Where are the located on this type of transmission? I have the hogs head. I was told or read somewhere to keep that for the purpose of adapting a flat head to a t5. At least that’s what I think I remember. Sent from my iPhone using H.A.M.B.
Correct on the hogshead. If you don't plan on using it someone will want it. A while ago I sold one for 100 bucks plus shipping.
It’s definitely a truck 4 speed.....most likely the non synchro type that Ford used from 1932 to 1952. The non synchro type would have “59T-7006” cast into the side of the case. Most people don’t want this unit for a car. We buy the gears if they’re in real good shape.
My dad had an old 3/4 ton international that had a transmission that looked just like that setting in our field for years. I robbed the emergency brake handle off it to make a shifter out of.
