No caption on this one. Looks like Seattle to me. Race car or maybe a high riding street car? Tiny front wheels almost look to be Halibrands for a midget.

Jimbo, you'd best get a few packs of JB Weld. I had some trouble with the engine at the track today.

It is actually Jim Crooke. The Hanna bodied Don Long car also ran with a full chute pack tail body and was last raced by Crooke and partner Jim Green with a 427 SOHC Ford motor. It is currently restored to that configuration.

This car was named "P D Q" and raced from 1967 through 1969. Prior to racing this car Dean Rue was a partner (with Gary Parmenter and Jim Krohn) in the Coin Collector I and II fuellers. It may be a Woodie chassis.
I am not sure if they were related but a Joe Blaylock also raced top fuel in that era in partnership with Orville Moe who later went on to fame (or infamy) as the operator of Spokane Raceway Park. Greg Fury was the crew chief. That car was a Fuller ( a sister car the the Fuller, Zeuschel, Moody entry) that raced as the "Batcar". Joe Blaylock had a long history in the sport, racing an alcohol dragster into the late 70's and then a top dragster in the early 80's. As late as 1990 he was the crew chief on Doug Burpee's top fuel car out of Spokane.
Here is a shot of the Batcar courtesy of Don Ewald's excellent We Did It For Love website.

Thanks Roo. As stated I'm doing this verbatim from notes on the photos and from the album from whence they came. You might see some more corrections required, have at it. Appreciate the knowledge that you, Dean Lowe, Dave, Jnaki, Marty Strode, and all the other folks that contribute to this great thread share. I know I'm leaving out plenty.

Johnny, thanks for posting the photos, great to have some Northwest history shown. I am constantly amazed by my buddy Roo's, knowledge about the T/F teams around the US. He mentioned Krohn, Parmenter and Rue. I can remember when they ran 2 cars, both yellow, one with a Chevy and the other with Chrysler power, sponsored by a coin collector from Seattle. One was the "Rare Coin Car", the other was, "Coin Collector 1". They were also connected to my friend Orville Roupe who ran "Precision Engines" up north. One of Orville's specialties was 426 Hemis, doing engines for Dave Wren's Hemi Barracuda, and Herschel McGriff's, NASCAR Superbird, along with being on the Team of Bill Muncey's Atlas Van Lines, Unlimited Hydro. Quite an accomplished man, and a great guy !

    Marty,
sometimes I cheat and use Bill Pratt's excellent Draglist site to fill in the gaps, especially with some of the more obscure teams that did not get as much ink as the big names.

Looks like a Fuller Car, with that skinny nose. This is one of the cars I raced in the 80's, at the birth of Nostalgia Racing. 1968-69 Fuller chassis, Covell body. 2012-09-14 163930.jpg

Comparing both images, got to be the Northwind, the color threw me off, and the drag link. Help us out Roo ! Looks like another Fuller, Jr Fueler in the background, maybe John Mitchell's first one. Fuller Car.jpg Northwind Dragster.jpg

This is the Scotty's Drive Inn car that was driven by "Ace" but I don't know if it was the Northwind with steering modifications. I will try to contact Ed later today and get the straight scoop.

Roo, here is a shot of the Scotty's car when Ed drove it. I don't ever remember the car having the swoopy tail, even when Dave Hawkins drove it. I had a promo card Dave gave me, with 2 chutes deployed at the finish line at Woodburn. Fuller sold a number cars in the Northwest, starting with the Angel and Grimm, AA/D. Earl Floyd would know all of the answers. 124.JPG Scotties Drive In.jpg

Here is another shot of the car from WDIFL and the accompanying caption

Scotty's Drive In" AA/FD in the pits at Arlington circa 1966. This was one of the "magic type" (pointy nose) Fuller cars - a real beauty. A young Ed McCulloch (who drove it) is standing in background.

As you can see it has the same drag link configuration as in the photo that started this discussion.

Was this the Bev's Steak House car, minus the tail or does that make the original photo the Bev's car and this another "pointy nose" Fuller?

Here are some shots of Cordy Jensen's "Bev's Steak House" cars, the first one was a Woody, and the other is obviously a Fuller. I remember that he crashed badly and the car was sold and rebuilt. The first one became Ron Salisbury's "Rumbler".
