Went to PC for pre Op check, came home and mowed lawn. Spent two hours looking for a foot pedal switch, sat on my belt sander for ten years, gave up. Made one out of wood and a micro switch. Ain't pretty but it will work. Only took 3 hrs:rolleyes:.

  4. Got a tempory bumper on since the 40 came with the tow bar stubs. Just need to protect that grill and the bumpers not bad - pretty sure the brackets are tweaked. 20200527_190616.jpg

Gave up trying to use a sprung vice as a sheet metal brake; picked up a 30" jobbie from harbor freight. Will have to make some extra pressure plates for short bends. I even tried to build one last spring, but it was a miserable failure!

Today I pulled the lower control arms off of my Falcon, and replaced them with ones that eliminate the strut-rods.

At 4" closer to the ground, I was getting bind, before hitting the bump-stops.

I dropped my bumpers and guards off at the chrome shop and the brackets off at the powder coater. I got a few more trips to the plater to make but I was fortunate, he needs a refi on his house. I just love my job!

There is one in the car trunk still too. The horsepower with it is just so easy. I assume this is similar to a coke addiction.

Found out they cancelled HERSHEY, now I have to live on the memories of the past 50. My general mood has changed since New Years Day 2020.

Went for a mile walk-in the heat and humidity of lower Alabama then sat in my recliner with my iPad and ordered a bunch of parts.

Getting the hot rod ready one more time. We chickened out and didn't go to the nostalgia race at Little River in early May. Going to San Antonio this Saturday. Gonna see how fast this old STUDE will go. IMG_20200528_174610951_HDR.jpg

Well, since no one has apparently done squat lately I'll bore you with my carb scoops one last time, I promise (hold the applause). They are done, finito, installed. Had to figure out how to mount them, wasn't about to machine up bases and not crazy about the way the repop frog mouths mount with a screw jammed into the side of the carb. So, I pop riveted hose clamps inside. Then had to clean up the areas I carved on and give them another round at the buffer.

What got me going on these again was a recent thread on the perils of not running filters. I checked out the frog mouth filters, pretty small. So I have put some foam filters in these much bigger. Granted not good filters but I don't put a lot of miles on. Debated spraying some filter oil on 'em.

    Start and Finished.

  20. Went to a local cruise night in the 56 about an hour away and then took 3 teenage boys to ride go carts. They learned that this old guy might be a better driver than they gave him credit... :p

They look really cool! I sure like the idea of using non automotive stuff on neat cars. Good thinking!

  24. Laying out a little project this AM; instead of brushing the Dykem, I thought I would use the spray can my father-in-law gave me a couple months ago. Sprayed out a little odd; looked at the can and found it expired in '69; over 50 years ago. Surprised it even sprayed at all.

Wow, 50 years.. I have had some luck putting air in old spray cans with a blow gun.

Thanks! Yeah I enjoy the creativity. Speaking of which, today I finally made some straps to hold my front end in the open position, instead of my usual jack stand under the grill method. I may switch to nylon straps, but for now I found an old leather belt, already has holes in it for adjustment.

  30. Bought a lot of junk at an Estate on line auction with no preview. Hope the $6 power washer is a go cause I need one. Won the bid on some 40 standard stuff - the center piece is not perfect buy says made in the USA....maybe the heater is 39/40....oh a banjo cap was on a shelve also. 20200603_180202.jpg 20200603_180922.jpg 20200603_182224.jpg 20200603_180202.jpg 20200603_180922.jpg 20200603_182224.jpg 20200603_180202.jpg 20200603_180202.jpg 20200603_180202.jpg 20200603_180202.jpg 20200603_180922.jpg 20200603_182224.jpg
