I won certificate for $250 from lokar at goodguys Colorado, and decided to use it to get my throttle assembly and it just came in today looks like I'm building a firewall and floor this weekend so I can mount this bad boy, I chose the cloth covered cable I think it'll look nice with a matching set of cloth style spark wires, I will be running a single stromberg on the ol Flathead for now so this is perfect IMG_20191220_180843.jpg IMG_20191220_180837.jpg

I got the pic from another thread, no more info but yeah I like the fenders too, they kind of come out back like the 49 ford tail lights in a way or could kind/sorta mimic it if you used the lower half of the ford backend and then exagerate the tailight area out into fenders like that one but just another thought....carry on;)

I didn't get to the shop this weekend due to my kids birthday and Xmas stuff, but another man's butchered hood is one man's new firewall material lol it's hard to describe how low the budget for this build is but so far I have almost nothing in it, me and my dad are in the body together and the rest of the pieces I've traded work for so far I haven't spent a dime almost on it. 15. When I look at bringing back my old Panel, finding a nice rear body section would be the best. I know I can hand build everything it takes but starting with a nice back door jamb all in one piece would be a blessing for sure.

When I was waiting for a buddy to pick up 2 bus seats I noticed a '54 truck nose...
walked over to it... it was a '54 panel cut down and a pick up cab grafted on from the leading edge of the roof back to the panel's floor... not my bag, but not for sale...
    early ranchero...

Finally got around to working on the old beater decided to go truck style because a 49 Chevy roof fell into my lap and seemed to graft on pretty easily and I made a custom bed and a few other things also mounted my new radiator and headlights IMG_20200517_111515805_HDR.jpg IMG_20200517_134032910_HDR.jpg IMG_20200517_140900258_HDR.jpg IMG_20200517_153345894_HDR.jpg IMG_20200517_174228001_HDR.jpg IMG_20200517_185724280_HDR.jpg IMG_20200517_185735283_HDR.jpg

IMG_20200517_160859_02.jpg FB_IMG_1589480475601.jpg Got the old Flathead started to see if it was in good shape so I know if I could fabricate everything around it or find a different engine I picked it out of a field where it was buried and dirt and looked like it hadn't moved in 30 years I put a Mallory dual points distributor fill it with some oil and fresh spark plugs and wires and she fired up with a little gas poured down the carb

So it been quite a while, and life has gotten way in the way and other projects, I haven’t even touched this car in a year in a half but I dug it out Friday and spent a weekend trying to gain my momentum back on this and I think I did it. Plus I wanted to stop it from rusting anymore
it has gone from 60s showcar style, to a late 40s to 50s style
here’s what I did this weekend

    -built drivers side a piller

-installed 48 Chevy front axle to replace the butchered one it had

    -started making floor structure

-got the hood mounted and made hinges for it.

-installed the 55 Chevy brakes on the 48 axle and installed tie rods.

-Built a mount for the steering box and installed it and the drag link, so we now have steering!!

-Started to build floor pans and sunk them in the back to fit the camaro seat and lock it in place.

-Primered the hood, cowl and headlight to prevent further rust.

-Painted the front frame and engine.

-installed my headlight just to realize I didn’t accommodate them in my hood idea so had to modify them.

-test fit my gas tank to start laying out my bed design

-test fit the radiator to see what brackets I need to make

    -sat in it

-sat in it pretending to drive

-sat in it pretending to race it

next I plan on finishing the back of the frame so I can pull the body off and work on individual parts

I’m still skeptical myself on a few parts, I’m going to add a little more rake to the bed and raise it a few inches and the back of the cab needs to go up an inch

Stood back and stared at it like most do when figuring out where to go next and I think I know which direction I want the front end to go very much like these cars especially the Packer Grill, It won’t be a real Packard Grill but I’m going to design something very similar
